Abstract: A method of controlling the charging of a battery of an electronic device comprises selectively charging the battery according to a first charging mode or a second charging mode. In the first charging mode, the battery is charged uniformly. In the second charging mode, the battery is charged using at least a first charge phase and a second charge phase. A start time of the first charge phase and an end time of the second charge phase are determined according to a specified idle time of the electronic device, the end time of the first charge phase is determined according to a first specified battery charge level, and the start time of the second charge phase is determined according to a difference between the first specified battery charge level and a second specified battery charge level.
