Publication number: 20150128478Abstract: A soft bait fish lure includes an elongated body having a head and a rear along a longitudinal axis. The body tapers laterally to a reduced tail portion toward the rear, then flares laterally into an enlarged tail at the rear. Optionally, the reduced tail portion is flexible in a lateral direction. The enlarged tail may have a tapered top and tapered bottom, each formed from two intersecting faces, such that the enlarged tail forms a substantial diamond-shape in cross-section perpendicular to the longitudinal axis. Optionally, each of the faces includes a contour terminating in an edge proximate said rear such that fluid flowing over said enlarged tail forms a vortex at each said face. Optionally, the rear forms a distal surface including a lateral indentation at the intersection of the tapered top and tapered bottom.Type: ApplicationFiled: June 17, 2014Publication date: May 14, 2015Inventor: Samuel M. Patent number: 7743550Abstract: A system for fishing using one of a plurality of rates of fall. Each of the rates of fall provides a different depth for delay between a cast and retrieval. The system includes a plurality of swim bait fishing lures. Each of the swim bait fishing lures includes an elongated body having a head and a rear along a longitudinal axis, a reduced tail portion flexible in a lateral direction and tapered laterally toward the rear, and an enlarged tail flaring from the reduced tail portion. The enlarged tail can have a tapered top and a tapered bottom, each formed from two intersecting faces. Each of the faces is characterized by a contour extending from the reduced tail portion on each of the faces to cause a vortex within a vicinity of each of the faces from a flowing fluid. Each of the swim bait fishing lure includes a weighted insert proximate the head. The system provides the plurality of rates of fall characterized by the respective weighted insert.Type: GrantFiled: December 9, 2008Date of Patent: June 29, 2010Assignee: Huddleston Deluxe Inc.Inventor: Samuel M. Patent number: 6212818Abstract: A soft bait fish lure having an elongated body composed of two parts of which the head part is composed of a hard material while the rearmost part representing the tail of the lure is composed of a soft and flexible material. The two parts are joined together by an adhesive so as to provide an integral lure. The rearmost tail part includes cutouts on each side to reduce the thickness so that an integral hinge is formed permitting the tail fin to flex and move simulating swimming motion as the lure is drawn through the water. Flexible legs or claws are integrally formed with the hard part. The midsection of the lure includes an attachment for a fishing line and a hook with a weed guard is included. Guide means are included for aligning the head part with the tail part during attachment. Sound attraction is produced by a rattle device installed in the head part complementing the over-all lure ability. A weight is strategically placed in the head part to stabilize the lure.Type: GrantFiled: October 5, 1999Date of Patent: April 10, 2001Inventor: Samuel M. Huddleston

Patent number: 5815978Abstract: A fish lure is disclosed having an over-all length comprising two parts. One head part is composed of a hard, rigid material and the other part is composed of a highly flexible soft material representing a fish tail. Both parts include flat surfaces opposing each other for receiving a joining substance such as glue and a pin and hole arrangement is employed for guiding the parts together. The soft part is provided with a cutout on each side of the part to define a hinge about which a fin portion pivots. The fin portion terminates the end of the soft part. A weighted member and lead line and hook connections are embedded in the rigid part as well as a diving plate. The exterior surface of both parts represents actual fish coloring.Type: GrantFiled: December 16, 1996Date of Patent: October 6, 1998Inventor: Samuel M. Huddleston
