Abstract: A printer is responsive to user input to cancel print jobs that are received after the user input. For example, the user input indicates a future job cancellation period during which any print jobs will be cancelled. Alternatively, the user indicates a job cancellation count, which is a number of current or future print jobs that are to be cancelled.

Abstract: When a print job is canceled, the printer saves the print job for potential subsequent retrieval. The printer implements a user interface that allows a user to select from previously cancelled print jobs, and to recall such print jobs for subsequent printing.

Abstract: A page description language is adapted for direct printing of multiple file formats, including PDF and HTML. In the course of directly printing a PDF or HTML file, an interpreter reads commands from the PDF or HTML file. Where the PDL is PostScript, an error may result due to incompatibilities between the PostScript file format and PDF or HTML file formats. An error handler is called, which passes program control to a procedure that writes all the commands encountered prior to the error, the command causing the error, and the subsequent steam of commands to a file, typically on disk. When the file is complete, the procedure translates the file from PDF or HTML into the page description language. As the page description language commands are generated, they are sent back to the page description language interpreter, which treats them as a new job.

Abstract: Office equipment are used to display information, such as news items, stock quotes, event announcements, and so on, on a display ordinarily used by the office equipment to provide status as to operation of the office equipment. A computing system is in communication with the office equipment. The computing system obtains information unrelated to operation of the office equipment and causes the office equipment to display the information in place of a status message.
