  • Patent number: 7438313
Abstract: A multi-level gas inflator for an air bag or other safety device, comprising an elongated pressure vessel having a primary gas generant portion with a first open end and a secondary portion with a second open end. The primary gas generant portion has a primary ignition device and primary gas generating energetics disposed therein. The primary ignition device is mounted on and closes the pressure vessel at the first open end thereof. The secondary portion may have a secondary ignition device and secondary gas generating energetics disposed therein. The secondary ignition device may be mounted on the pressure vessel at the second open end thereof. A suitable gas under a predetermined pressure is present in the primary and secondary portions. One or more separate dividers or divider walls are disposed within the midportion of the pressure vessel to separate the primary and secondary portions.

  • Patent number: 6993865
Abstract: A rod holder assembly formed from an upper flange member securable to receiving a socket mounted beneath a gunnel surface. The upper flange has concealed fastening bosses located beneath the flange member which are used to engage fastener that secure a backing plate that is coupled to the receiving socket. The backing plate can be attached directly to the lower surface of the gunnel wherein removal of the upper flange allows for refinishing of the mounting surface and/or the upper flange, without disturbing the receiving socket mounted position.

  • Patent number: 6403883
Abstract: A combination protective covering and locating insert for use with an electrical utility box during an application of a wall covering material over a structural framing to which the insert is secured. The utility box includes a peripherally extending edge, typically in either a rectangular or square/oval shape and associated and inwardly facing surface defining a recessed interior. The insert is constructed as a three dimensional housing with a forward facing and peripherally extending planar face and a rearwardly spaced and recessed base surface, connected together by at least one side wall. The side walls in combination define a mating configuration with the peripherally extending edge of the utility box. A spike is secured to a midpoint location of the recessed base surface and extends forwardly a predetermined spaced distance beyond the peripherally extending planar face.

  • Patent number: 6170234
Abstract: A particulate aerosol dissemination device comprising a shreddable belt is disclosed. The belt has a plurality of individual cells aligned along the belt length and which extend across the belt width. The cells are separated by partitions extending between the cells across the belt width. The cells are capable of holding a solid aerosol filler comprising any one of the following: obscurant or smoke generating materials; pesticides; insecticides; fungicides; riot control agents; fertilizer; and feed. A method for disseminating a solid particle aerosol using the belt and a process for manufacturing the aerosol belt segments is also disclosed.

  • Patent number: 6047644
Abstract: An aerosol generating device comprising a casing having a base end and a ainer end, with a firing primer mounted through the base end and extending into a propellant zone which contains a propellant. The firing primer is thereby detonationally connected to the propellant. A diffuser plate is mounted inside of the casing on a side of the propellant zone opposite to the firing primer. A filler area inside of the casing is adjacent to the diffuser on an opposite side to the propellant zone. The filler area contains particles of a powder having interstitial void space between the particles. A frangible end seal is attached to the casing within the retainer end, with the frangible end seal being positioned adjacent to the filler area on an opposite side of the diffuser. When activated, propellant gases expand through the diffuser into the fill area deagglomerating and fluidizing the powder particles and increasing pressure until the end seal ruptures and releases an aerosol cloud.

  • Patent number: 4136369
Abstract: A data recorder/reproducer device for disc media, particularly limply flexible magnetic disc media, having a pair of door-like structures mounted on opposite sides of a supportive frame, each such structure defining a narrow slit-space for receiving a recording disc and its envelope and mounting the same for recording, with a drive shaft supported on the frame centrally thereof, having a drive hub at either end aligned with the central opening in the recording disc, such that both discs are driven by the same drive train. The device has at least two recording heads, one for each disc, and the heads are articulated for selective control of movement toward or away from their particular disc, into or out of transducing relation thereto; also, the heads are mounted for translational movement across the face of their respective discs, generally radially thereof.

  • Patent number: 3973272
Abstract: A data recorder/reproducer device for flexible magnetic disc media, having a door-like structure mounted on a supportive frame. The door structure receives a recording disc and is adapted to carry a recording head at one or both sides of the disc. The heads are articulated for selective control of movement toward or away from the disc, into or out of transducing relation and also for translational movement across the face of the disc, generally radially thereof. The device includes novel interlocking actuator means which prevent opening of the door or doors except when the heads, positioned by a translational drive means, are in a predetermined "home" or start position at the edge of the disc, thereby preventing the inadvertent erasure or other loss or destruction of the recorded information.

  • Patent number: 3968972
Abstract: A diametrically-enlargeable cylindrical drum portion, preferably comprised of a plurality of movable segmental elements, each of U-shaped or other configuration having a pair of spaced legs or sides, which are resiliently flexible toward one another, mounted in a circuitous pattern on a rotatable member to form outwardly-projecting inner and outer generally concentric annular shoulder formations. The outer such formation provides a segmented hub for receiving a disc by its center opening, such hub being expandable against the opening in the disc to center the latter, as a result of moving a tapered actuator against the inner such annular formation, such actuator preferably comprising a conically angled ridge formation on a rotatable element which is movable into registering contact with the first such member.
