  • Publication number: 20220111435
Abstract: A system for melting metals for casting includes one or more arc welding power supplies configured to provide one or more arc welding outputs, and one or more electrodes operatively connected to the one or more arc welding outputs. A solid metal holder is configured to hold a solid metal to be melted by one or more arcs formed between the one or more electrodes and the solid metal to generate a molten metal. A container is positioned proximate the solid metal holder to receive the molten metal. A robot is proximate both the container and a mold and/or a die cast machine. The robot has an arm configured to manipulate the container containing the molten metal and pour the molten metal from the container into the mold and/or the die cast machine for casting.

  • Patent number: 10888946
Abstract: A welding system includes a multi-process power supply, a TIG torch, and a TIG power pin for connecting the TIG torch to the multi-process power supply. The multi-process power supply has a power output connection for a MIG torch and a controller. The Controller is configured to command shielding gas and welding current to be provided to the power output connection, and the power output connection is configured to provide the shielding gas and the welding current to a MIG torch when the MIG torch is connected to the power output connection. The TIG power pin connects the TIG torch to the power output connection such that the power output connection is configured to provide the shielding gas and the welding current to the TIG torch. The controller is configured such that at least one of the shielding gas and the welding current is not provided to the TIG torch through the power output connection until a user engages a control member.

  • Publication number: 20200246901
Abstract: A gas tungsten arc welding system includes a welding power source including a controller comprising a memory storing a plurality of parameters that at least partially define a welding waveform. The welding waveform includes a high frequency stage, an AC arc initiation stage following the high frequency stage wherein the AC arc initiation stage comprises a plurality of AC current pulses that decrease in amplitude during a slope duration, and an AC sequencing stage following the AC arc initiation stage. The system further includes a user input in communication with the controller and configured to receive a manual activation of an increased energy AC arc initiation mode. The controller is configured to increase energy of the AC arc initiation stage, when the increased energy AC arc initiation mode is activated, by at least lengthening the slope duration of the AC arc initiation stage.
