  • Publication number: 20060161564
Abstract: A system that allows location and extraction of information from database driven web sites that are part of the deep web is described herein. The system uses an automatic wrapper generation mechanism that understands the meaning of deep web pages, extend search technologies capabilities, and help users extract information from database driven web sites. A method therefor is also described herein.

  • Publication number: 20060136454
Abstract: A method and a hybrid distributed database for performing a transaction in a communication network. The distributed data base comprise a pessimistic scheduler for requesting a read/write lock from its associated transaction manager, determining if there is a conflict for the operation and for detecting a conflict of operation. If there is a conflict for the operation, the pessimistic scheduler requests a read/write lock for the transaction until obtaining the read/write lock and if not, the pessimistic scheduler obtains the read/write lock. The distributed database also comprises an optimistic scheduler for determining an operation type, determining if there is a conflict for the operation. If so, the optimistic scheduler determines an operation type until determining that the operation is not in conflict with an operation of another transaction. The pessimistic and optimistic schedulers each access an associated database node for performing the operation for the transaction.

  • Publication number: 20050058068
Abstract: A method, a gateway and an authoritative node for refining quality of service (QoS) mapping for a plurality of packet flows transiting between two networks, wherein the packet flows pertain to a session, comprising capabilities for receiving a request for transiting the packet flows of the session between the two networks and if the request contains an appropriate authorization, associating at least a first one and a second one of the packet flows of the session transporting different types of content with at least a first and a second QoS levels in a mapping table and routing the packet flows between two networks in accordance with the associated QoS levels. Optionally, the step of receiving may further comprise communicating with an authoritative node to fetch a maximum authorized QoS level for each of the packet flows, wherein the QoS levels in the mapping table are set below the maximum authorized QoS level.

  • Publication number: 20040078256
Abstract: A method, system, and scheduler mobile for scheduling events on behalf of participants, wherein the agent receives from the event organizer a list of participants along with an intended timeframe for the event. In a first embodiment, the agent is dispatched to at least one calendar server storing participants' calendar information, retrieves that information for the intended timeframe, and schedules the event. If no suitable timeframe exists for all participants, the agent invokes negotiating agents of the participants for rescheduling previously booked events conflicting with the multi-party event. According to a second embodiment, a plurality of scheduler mobile agents are dispatched on a plurality of calendar servers. Each scheduler mobile agent retrieves calendar information related to participants whose calendars are stored on the server, and creates a timeframe proposal for the event. The scheduler mobile agents further negotiate with each other based on the timeframe proposals for the final event.

  • Publication number: 20040059798
Abstract: The present invention is directed to a Mobile Agent (MA) and a method of migrating a MA having a set of partitions from a current host to a target host. The MA comprises a communication module capable of, prior to migrating to the target host, getting information on available resources at the target host. The MA further comprises a partition handler. The partition handler is capable of electing partitions to be dropped by the MA and sending the elected partitions to a Partition Storage Agent (PSA). The partition handler elects the partitions to be dropped from the set of partitions and the information on available resources at the target host. The partition handler is further capable of, after migrating to the target host, downloading new partitions from the PSA.

  • Publication number: 20030046443
Abstract: The invention relates to various embodiments of a method for updating a mobile agent (MA) providing services. The MA resides in a site in a data communications network. In a preferred embodiment a new MA, comprising the desired services, is created. The new MA moves to the site of the old MA where its data is customised. The method then waits until none of the old services in the old MA is running before it deactivates the old MA and activates the new MA. In addition, two further embodiments are provided. Furthermore, an interface manager (IM) for use with interpreted object-oriented programs is provided. The IM acts as a proxy for inter-object calls and has a redirection table in order to redirect object calls to objects that replaced old objects. Also, a method for updating an MA with an IM is provided.
