  • Publication number: 20170082205
Abstract: A bypass valve includes a housing for directing fluid flow through the bypass valve. A disc is positioned within the flow path having an inner perimeter and an outer perimeter. The bypass valve further includes at least one strain gauge disposed on the disc. One of the inner and outer perimeters of the disc is fixed to the bypass valve housing and one of the inner and outer perimeter of the disc is free to deflect from the bypass valve housing in response to fluid flow through the bypass valve such that a measurement of deflection of the disc induces strain on the strain gauge.

  • Patent number: 8154175
Abstract: A sensing device is disclosed that includes a bistable snap mechanism having a snap element operatively connected to an input element and an output element. The snap element has two discrete positions that provide the output element in one of first and second positions. A resistive sensing element includes a flexible member operatively connected to the output element and is configured to deflect in response to movement of the output element between the first and second positions. A resistor is mounted on the flexible member and is configured to provide a variable resistance based upon deflection of the flexible member.

  • Publication number: 20100145210
Abstract: The present application relates to a method for classifying a cardiovascular sound recorded from a living subject. The method comprises the step of extracting at least two signal parameters (309) from said cardiovascular sound, said at least two signal parameters characterizes at least two different properties of at least a part of said cardiovascular sound. The method further comprises the step of classifying said cardiovascular sound using said at least two signal parameters in a multivariate classification method (310). Furthermore, the application relates to a system, stethoscope and server for classifying a cardiovascular sound recorded from a living subject, where the above-described method has been implemented.

  • Publication number: 20070152402
Abstract: A method of playing cards is provided which is suitable for use with video poker machines and other casino arrangements. A player is dealt two hole cards, followed by a matrix including nine flop cards arranged in three rows and three columns. The player may then select three connecting flop cards, including one from each column. The player is dealt a turn card and a river card. The highest ranking five-card hand from the two hole cards, the three selected flop cards, the turn card and the river card is then determined.

  • Patent number: 5061896
Abstract: A variable transformer is disclosed. The transducer includes a uniform pitch winding wound on a hollow bobbin with several continuously variable concentric coils wound over it with layers of insulation in between. The variable coils are wound in accordance with true trigonometric functions by adjusting the pitch between adjacent turns and reversing the direction of winding at each maximum pitch point corresponding to the zero crossover. The variable pitch coils are physically wound in quadrature with respect to a reference point on the bobbin. The transducer is finished by placing a magnetic shield over the bobbin which may include magnetic end washers. Lead wire connections are made and the entire unit is placed in a suitable housing. A moveable core, made from a highly permeable material, is placed inside the unit for slidably engaging the bobbin in its hollow.
