    Abstract: A composite horseshoe having a rigid base member and a resilient member disposed within a groove formed in the base member. The resilient member is bonded to the base member by a layer of adhesive having a substantially consistent thickness. The consistent thickness of the adhesive layer can be obtained by the use of spacing elements such as glass beads. The resilient member may be a rubber insert and be formed out of an automobile tire or by molding a rubber compound.
