  • Patent number: 9321873
Abstract: A personal care composition includes a hybrid copolymer including at least one ethylenically unsaturated monomer and a naturally derived hydroxyl containing chain transfer agent as an end group, a hybrid synthetic copolymer including one or more synthetic polymers derived from the at least one ethylenically unsaturated monomer with at least one initiator fragment as an end group and an effective amount of a cosmetic or personal care additive.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: July 30, 2010
Date of Patent: April 26, 2016
    Assignee: AKZO NOBEL N.V.
Inventors: John S. Thomaides, Klin A. Rodrigues, Samuel A. Vona, Jr., Gary T. Martino, Anthony J. Adamo
  • Patent number: 8545859
Abstract: The present invention relates to the use of acrylate copolymers, which provide excellent water resistance to personal care products without the undesirable waxy, greasy or heavy feel. Further, these acrylate copolymers are easy for manufacturers to use as they can be easily incorporated into the water phase without special processing.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: November 26, 2003
Date of Patent: October 1, 2013
    Assignee: Akzo Nobel N.V.
Inventors: Hongjie Cao, Gary T. Martino, Samuel A. Vona, Jr.

  • Publication number: 20060228319
Abstract: Personal care composition in the form of a dry film useful in cleansing or shaving. The film includes at least one water soluble polymer in an amount of about 45 to about 82 weight %, based on total weight of dry film, and, when used for cleansing, at least one surfactant in an amount of about 18 to about 55 weight %; based on total weight of dry film. The at least one water soluble polymer can include blends of polymers. Other additional ingredients for use in the film include plasticizers and/or neutralizing agents. The personal cleansing dissolvable films provide improved aesthetics, foaming, cleansing, moisturizing and lubricity.

  • Patent number: 6306378
Abstract: This invention relates to a two-part system useful for treating proteinaceous substrates. The two-part system has a first part comprising a water-soluble/dispersible reactive polyimido compound and a second part comprising a nucleophilic catalytic agent. The polyimido compounds may be selected from the group consisting of polysuccinimide compounds, polyglutimide compounds, and copolymers of thereof. The polyimido compound may also comprise a functionalizing moiety that provides functionality to the polyimido compound and is preferably derived from a nucleophilic moiety selected from the group consisting of amines, alcohols, phenols, thiols, and carboxylates; and a water-solubilizing/dispersing moiety that provides water-solubility and/or water-dispersibility to the polyimido compound and is preferably derived from a nucleophilic moiety selected from the group consisting of amines, alcohols, phenols, thiols, and carboxylates.
