  • Publication number: 20260098655
Abstract: A system for blocking transmission of smoke through a passageway, and related systems and methods, are disclosed herein. In some embodiments, the system includes a housing, a deployable barrier positioned to move between a retracted position and a deployed position, a motor coupled to the deployable barrier, and a deploying circuit coupled to the motor. The weight of the deployable barrier can drive the motor in reverse during deployment to generate a current in an inductive component of the motor. The deploying circuit can have a first setting that applies the current to an output of the deploying circuit to dissipate the current and a second setting that applies the current as a load upstream from the inductive component to resist driving the motor in reverse. The system can also include a controller coupled to the deploying circuit to switch between the first setting and the second setting.

  • Publication number: 20190082804
Abstract: The invention is directed to an electronic toy bank. The electronic toy bank may be utilized by a child to learn how to manage funds corresponding to an external account and may also be associated with a payment device operated by a child. The child may utilize a transfer device to communicate information to the electronic toy bank, where the information can indicate an amount to be transferred from a first external account to a second external account associated with the child. Upon authorization of the transfer, the electronic toy bank may send instructions to a remote server computer to update information associated with the first external account and the second external account according to the amount. The electronic toy bank can update information displayed on its display screen to reflect a balance associated with an external account, allowing the child to easily see their current savings.

  • Publication number: 20090083900
Abstract: An open view facemask visor is an apparatus composed of a high impact resistive material any portion of which is capable of filtering or reflecting light. The visor is formed by shaping a nominally thick sample of the impact resistive material such that the finished product can be affixed either over or under a given helmet facemask design. Once installed, an open view facemask visor enhances the protection of a sporting helmet facemask by providing the user a barrier to light, glare, or debris without obscuring the “open view” to the user's eyes. Whether by integrating a clear section in the tinting of the high impact resistive material or simply providing a physically open, or cut-out, section in the visor, proper positioning of the visor shield on the facemask will not obstruct one's ability to view the helmet wearer's eyes.
