  • Publication number: 20240251435
Abstract: Embodiments of the present disclosure relate to methods, devices, apparatuses, and computer readable medium for small data transmission (SDT). A first device, in response to first data to be transmitted via a SDT corresponding to a first set of resources for a random access procedure and a second set of resources for a configured grant procedure, determine a target resource for at least a part of the first data based on a logical channel restriction on the SDT; and transmit, to a second device, at least the part of the first data on the target resource. In this way, the SDT procedure can be performed with logical channel restrictions, which allows a better isolation of services through specific resource selection. The communication efficiency and network performance can also be improved.

  • Publication number: 20240251233
Abstract: Embodiments of the present disclosure relate to methods and apparatus for device capability indication. A terminal device obtains a medium access control (MAC) protocol data unit (PDU) comprising a MAC subheader. The MAC subheader comprises a reduced capability (RedCap) bit for indicating that the terminal device supports enhanced RedCap. The terminal device transmits the MAC PDU to a network device. In this way, an indication of the enhanced RedCap can be provided efficiently, for example, without consuming more values of the short logical channel ID (LCID) field in the MAC subheader.

  • Publication number: 20240244706
Abstract: Embodiments of the present disclosure relate to methods, devices, apparatuses, and computer readable medium for small data transmission (SDT). The method comprises in accordance with a determination that a first condition related to Small Data Transmission (SDT) is met, determining a target identifier associated with an inactive state of the first device; and transmitting, to the second device, a first message for the SDT comprising the target identifier. By using an I-RNTI determined based on the SDT type, which may be the short I-RNTI or a new I-RNTI even shorter than the short I-RNTI, bits can be saved and used for UL data that can be transmitted while respecting a maximum SDT data threshold configured by the network device.

  • Publication number: 20240188169
Abstract: Mechanism on configured grant transmissions is provided. If a small data transmission is needed, a first device determines whether a timing advance is valid in a subsequent CG occasion for the small data transmission. The first device also determines whether an evaluation of a validity condition is applicable in the subsequent CG occasion for the small data transmission. If the timing advance is valid and the evaluation is applicable, the first device performs the small data transmission in the subsequent CG occasion. In this way, the first device is able to perform the evaluation of the validity condition in advance, thereby reducing delays and avoiding failures.

  • Publication number: 20240179791
Abstract: Embodiments of the present disclosure relate to devices, methods, apparatuses and computer readable storage media of state transition reporting. The method comprises: determining, at a first device, a DRX configuration for a second device in an inactive state, the second device located within an area served by one or more devices comprising the first device; determining configuration information based at least in part on the DRX configuration; and transmitting, to a third device of a core network, the configuration information to cause the third device to adjust downlink transmissions for the second device. The core network can determine when the UE is reachable and adjust transmissions associated with paging accordingly. • Publication number: 20240179753
Abstract: Example embodiments of the present disclosure relate to initiation of small data transmission (SDT). A first device determines whether SDT is allowed to be initiated at a first protocol layer of the first device. In accordance with a determination that the SDT is allowed to be initiated at the first protocol layer, the first device determines whether the SDT is allowed to be initiated at a second protocol layer of the first device. In accordance with a determination that the SDT is allowed to be initiated at the second protocol layer, the first device initiates, via the first protocol layer, a communication procedure for the SDT with a second device. Through this solution, it is possible to avoid unnecessary interactions between protocol layers as well as avoid false resume of the radio bearer when the SDT procedure cannot be performed.

  • Publication number: 20240179657
Abstract: Embodiments of the present disclosure relate to acquiring a Timing Advance (TA) value. A terminal device being connected with a serving cell or a primary cell of the terminal device transmits a signal to a network device supporting a non-serving cell or a secondary cell of the terminal device, wherein a physical cell identifier (PCI) of the non-serving cell is different from a PCI of the serving cell. The terminal device starts, based on the transmission of the signal, a timer at the terminal device. The terminal device acquires, while the timer is running, a timing advance (TA) value associated with the non-serving cell or the secondary cell.

  • Publication number: 20240163952
Abstract: The present disclosure relates generally to the field of wireless communications, and particularly to a technique for performing the beam failure recovery (BFR) of transmission reception points (TRPs) in a multiple-TRP (mTRP) scenario. More specifically, the technique involves defining rules according to which a UE may determine that the TRPs have failed concurrently or the TRPs are considered to fail individually in the mTRP scenario. Such rules are defined based on current counter values of beam failure instance (BFI) counters used by the UE for each of the TRPs. In some embodiments, the rules may be additionally defined based on current timer statuses of timers supervising the BFI counters. By using the rules thus defined, it is possible for the UE to clearly determine when it is required to use the BFR mechanism individually for at least one of the TRPs or concurrently for all the TRPs in one or more cells.
