Methods include inhibiting the spoilage of food stuffs and preventing vibriosis in fish or shell fish.

Recently a clay or a clay blend that may be a combination of clay, yeast, and a form of a functional amino acid, was examined and found to help decrease the effects of acute hepatopancreatic necrosis disease (AHPND), which is also known as Early Mortality Syndrome (EMS) in shrimp when a challenge model that included Vibrio parahaemolyticus was used.
