The requested text data is retrieved from a source, such as a database, and converted into a sound file. The retrieved text data may be converted to a sound file by translating the text data into audio data, formatting the audio data based on a predetermined audio format, and writing the formatted audio data to a file. A web page is created including a sound tag pointing to a file path associated with the sound file. The created web page is then sent in a response to the browser. Once the web page is received by the browser, the browser initiates playback of the sound file from the file path.

Abstract: Systems and methods are provided for managing an application configuration using messaging over a communications network. A configuration message including configuration changes to the application and a corresponding effective date when the configuration changes are to be applied to the application is received. Following the receipt of the configuration message, the message is stored. When the effective date occurs, the configuration changes from the received configuration message are applied to the current configuration of the application.

In one embodiment, a method includes the act of receiving a plurality of subscriber metrics associated with a subscriber to an access network. The method also includes the act of modeling the subscriber experience by applying at least one transformation to the plurality of subscriber metrics to produce a set of subscriber experience data. The metrics measure quality of service for a subscriber experience with the access network. Each element of the subscriber experience data quantifies an aspect of the subscriber experience.

Abstract: Methods provide a robust service to subscribers of an advertising program. Subscriber reports are delivered using electronic mail (e-mail), which eliminates the cost associated with printing and mailing the reports, while providing the ability to easily track the e-mailed reports. The reports can then be distributed to subscribers on a more frequent basis. The method also enables a customer service representative to remedy a problem associated with a subscriber based on the tracking of the e-mails including the reports. The methods tend to provide a more valuable service to the subscriber.

Briefly described, in architecture, one embodiment of the system, among others, can be implemented as follows. The system includes an application manager that receives a message request from a user. The message request requests information about a service provided by a publication of an organization, such as a web page. The system further includes an application messaging device that responds to the message request with a message containing information on the service provided by the publication of the organization. The progress page includes progress messages for each of the multiple tasks. The progress page also includes an Embedded Refresh Component that forces the web browser to periodically again request the progress page. When the multiple tasks are completed, a final progress page is communicated to the web browser, and the final progress page eliminates the Embedded Refresh Component.

The terminating file transfer server typically receives a file transfer message from an originating file transfer server. The file transfer message can include details about the transfer including a local user and a filename. The agent typically reads the file transfer message, and directs the transfer of a file associated with the filename to a home directory of the local user. The configuration file typically resides in the home directory, and instructs the agent to transfer the file to a remote host. Methods and other systems are also provided.

Abstract: A file transfer system is provided that typically includes an originating file transfer host that includes a script server and an originating file transfer server. The script server typically receives a file and a script from a remote terminal, interprets the script, and transfers the script and the file to the originating file transfer server. The originating file transfer server receives the script and the file from the script server and transfers the file to a terminating file transfer server in accordance with the script.
