    Abstract: A composite continuous countercurrent fluidized moving bed (FMB) and/or expanded moving bed (EMB) may be used for carrying out processes of recovery, purification or reaction of single or multiple component/s of interest, by contacting liquid phase containing the component/s with a solid adsorbent in continuous countercurrent mode. The net movement of the solids is against the liquid, flowing in upward direction through stages/columns, and sedimenting solids from the one stage/column are continuously fed to the top of another stage/column placed below or alongside of previous stage/column; and also operating in fluidized/expanded bed mode, wherein its countercurrent contact with up-flowing liquid is carried out. A system described herein may include a number of stages/columns. The FMB/EMB system can be used in processes for continuous recovery, purifications or reactions of various products.

    Abstract: This invention relates to a process for selective capture, isolation and purification of chlorinated sucrose compounds, including chlorinated sucrose, their precursors and derivatives, including trichlorogalactosucrose (TGS), directly from chlorinated reaction mixture by column chromatography on adsorbents and under conditions which result in specific and selective affinity towards one or more of chlorinated sucrose compound. The process also integrates de-esterification of chlorinated sucrose esters adsorbed on the adsorbent while they are being treated with desorbent. The process also provides a novel approach to concentration and crystallization of TGS. The chlorinated sucrose derivatives, including TGS, thus isolated are substantially free from most impurities, salts and organic solvents. The process has high recovery of more than 95% in terms of desired chlorinated sucrose derivatives including TGS.

    Abstract: The present invention relates to the development of pseudobioaffinity adsorbent and process for purification of immunoglobulin G from immunoglobulin containing solutions such as but not limited to plasma, serum, cell culture supernatant, ascites fluids. The adsorbent consists of a solid support and ligand. The ligand may be attached to the matrix or be part of matrix. The ligand is selected from a group of hydrophobic amino acids such as alanine, valine, leucine, isoleucine, proline, phenylalanine, tryptophan and tyrosine and the support material being preferably a synthetic hydrophilic polymer of methacrylate or acrylate species, or any of its derivatives. The adsorbent is cheap and stable to harsh conditions such as 1.0 M NaOH used during regeneration of adsorbents. Moreover there is no problem of toxic leachables typically associated with biological ligands. The nature of the adsorbent also allows high flow rate operations at relatively low pressures.
