  • Publication number: 20250026208
Abstract: A charging box performs a direct current fast charging (DCFC) session of a recipient by a donor, e.g., during a vehicle-to-vehicle (V2V) charging session, and includes a portable housing, disconnect devices connected to a high-voltage (HV) bus to connect/disconnect respective inlet and outlet charging ports to/from the bus, and multiple direct current-to-direct current (DC-DC) converters. A high-voltage-to-high-voltage (HV-HV) converter is connected to the bus. An optional high-voltage-to-low-voltage (HV-LV) converter may be connected to the HV-HV converter. An optional low-voltage (LV) energy storage device is connected to the housing and HV-LV converter. A communication processing unit (CPU) establishes two-way communication between the donor and recipient. A system controller selectively pre-charges the bus, recharge the energy storage device, and selectively command offloading of a DC charging current from the donor, through the HV-HV converter, and to the recipient.

  • Publication number: 20240381079
Abstract: Presented are vehicle charging systems and control logic provisioning smart vehicle charging using encrypted wireless connectivity, methods for making/using such systems, and vehicles interoperable with such systems. A method of controlling a charging operation of a vehicle includes a vehicle controller retrieving a unique ID assigned to the vehicle from a memory device. When approaching an electric vehicle charging station (EVCS), the controller responsively embeds the unique ID in a wireless message, including encrypting and inserting the unique ID into a dedicated extension frame within the wireless message. The vehicle then broadcasts the wireless message with the embedded and encrypted unique ID. An EVCS controller parses the encrypted unique ID from the wireless message and transmits the encrypted unique ID to a back-office (BO) vehicle services provider.

  • Publication number: 20240343151
Abstract: A system and method for adaptation of electric vehicle charging communication parameters that includes commencing, by an electric vehicle (EV), a communication session between the EV and an electric vehicle supply equipment (EVSE) charging station. The communication session includes extracting a vehicle charging communication session parameter from the EVSE charging station and validating, by the EV, that the vehicle charging communication session parameter with a default charging parameter. A direct current or an alternating current charging of the EV, based on a digital communication parameter received by the EVSE charging station, is initiated. In the event of a failure of the communication session, the vehicle charging communication session parameter is relaxed and a restarted EV charging session is initiated, where if the restarted EV charging session is successful, a deviation parameter is generated.

  • Patent number: 10279816
Abstract: A method for monitoring a controller for a vehicle includes determining configuration information associated with the vehicle and determining vehicle operating states associated with a plurality of conditions. A statistical analysis is executed to correlate a plurality of faults with the vehicle operating states and the configuration information associated with the vehicle. The plurality of faults in the controller can be isolated to one of a hardware fault or a software fault based upon the statistical analysis and the configuration information associated with the vehicle.
