  • Patent number: 4345188
Abstract: A source of high frequency alternating input voltage is coupled to the primary winding of a high frequency low voltage ferroresonant transformer of a television receiver power supply. A capacitor is coupled across the secondary output winding of the ferroresonant transformer, and generates a circulating current that magnetically saturates the secondary core portion of the transformer to regulate the alternating polarity output voltage developed across the secondary output winding. A step-up high voltage transformer includes a primary winding and a high voltage secondary winding tightly coupled to the step-up transformer primary winding. The regulated alternating polarity output voltage developed by the low voltage ferroresonant transformer is coupled to the primary winding of the step-up high voltage transformer without prior DC rectification of the ferroresonant transformer output voltage.

  • Patent number: 4334267
Abstract: A power transformer of an inverter power supply has a primary winding coupled to a source of DC voltage. First and second transistor switches are coupled to the primary winding in a push-pull arrangement. A drive winding of a saturable transformer is coupled to the base electrode of each of the two transistor switches to alternately apply forward drive to each switch. A control winding of the saturable transformer is supplied with a control current that reaches a magnitude that magnetically saturates the core of the saturable transformer to remove forward drive from the conducting transistor switch for developing an alternating polarity output voltage across a supply winding of the power transformer. A capacitor and an inductor form a resonant circuit upon attainment of core saturation.

  • Patent number: 4209731
Abstract: A source of unregulated voltage and a source of rectified deflection rate alternating current voltage is coupled to a deflection circuit. A magnetic switching structure includes two loading windings series coupled with the source of deflection rate voltage. A control circuit developes a bias current in a control winding which permits the load windings to alternately magnetically saturate within each deflection cycle to switch controlled amounts of energy to the deflection circuit.

  • Patent number: 4088942
Abstract: A ferroresonant transformer includes a transformer core, primary and secondary windings. A secondary core section of the transformer core is formed at least in part of a first magnetic material which saturates at a relatively small magnetizing force. The remainder of the transformer core is formed of a second magnetic material which saturates at a magnetizing force greater than that of the first magnetic material. The transformer also includes a ferroresonant capacitor which is responsive to the magnetic flux generated by current in the primary winding for generating a magnetic flux for saturating the secondary core.
