  • Publication number: 20240132860
Abstract: The present invention relates to the fields of life sciences, micro-organisms and degradation of hydrocarbon chains such as plastics or synthetic polymers. Specifi-cally, the invention relates to an isolated specific enzyme, or a fragment thereof, wherein said enzyme or fragment is capable of degrading a hydrocarbon chain, and to a micro-organism or a host cell comprising the enzyme or a fragment thereof. Also, the present invention relates to a polynucleotide encoding the enzyme or fragment thereof, and to an expression vector or plasmid comprising the polynucleotide of the present invention. And still, the present invention relates to use of the enzyme, fragment, micro-organism, host cell, polynucleotide, expression vector or plasmid of the present invention for degrading a hydrocarbon chain; to a method of degrading a hydrocarbon chain with the specific enzyme or a fragment thereof; and to a method of producing the enzyme or fragment thereof of the present invention.

  • Publication number: 20220106616
Abstract: The present invention relates to genetically modified ascomycetous filamentous fungi, particularly of the species Thermothelomyces heterothallica capable of producing cannabinoids and precursors thereof, particularly of producing cannabigerolic acid (CBGA) and/or cannabigerovarinic acid (CBGVA) and products thereof, including tetrahydrocannabinolic acid (THCA), cannabidiolic acid (CBDA) and cannabidivarinic acid (CBDVA), and use thereof for producing said precursors and cannabinoids.

  • Publication number: 20150011424
Abstract: The present invention is based on the idea of determining certain molecular lipids from a subject's blood sample, for example from serum or plasma sample, and based on the amounts of the determined lipids determining the amount of liver fat and/or diagnosing NAFLD in the subject. More specifically the subjects with elevated liver fat amount and NAFLD are characterized by elevated triglycerides with low carbon number and double bond content in the blood sample. Lysophosphatidylcholines, ether phospholipids, sphingomyelins and PUFA-containing phospholipids are diminished in the blood samples of subjects with an elevated liver fat amount and NAFLD. The method of the present invention can be further used for monitoring the subject's response to the treatment of NAFLD or to the treatment of lowering of the liver fat amount in the subject.

  • Patent number: 7678396
Abstract: The invention relates to avocado powder and to the method of obtaining the same. Avocado powder is a novel product which enables the avocado to be preserved for an extended period of time at ambient temperature, such as to conserve the characteristic properties of the product, with the additional advantage of being 100% natural and occupying less physical storage space, thereby eliminating the post-processing cold chain. The method of obtaining avocado powder comprises a series of operations or steps that terminate in the pulverization and packing of the end product.
