    Abstract: A medical adhesive composition comprising, based upon the total weight of the composition, from about 50 wt. % to about 99.9 wt. % of one or more ?-cyanoacrylate monomers and from about 0.1 wt. % to about 5 wt. % of one or more non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs). Suitable NSAIDs include ibuprofen and acetaminophen. The resulting compositions provide enhances fibroblast proliferation and reduced cytotoxicity compared to compositions that do not contain NSAID.

    Abstract: A method for producing a cyanoacrylate monomer, comprising the steps of (a) reacting cyanoacetate and formaldehyde or paraformaldehyde in the presence of a base or amine base catalyst to form an ?-cyanoacrylate prepolymer or oligomer mixture; (b) subjecting the ?-cyanoacrylate prepolymer or oligomer mixture to a substrate having free acid, acid derivative, or free aldehyde or ketone groups to remove the catalyst and to obtain a purified ?-cyanoacrylate prepolymer or oligomer; and (c) subjecting the purified ?-cyanoacrylate prepolymer or oligomer to depolymerization to obtain an ?-cyanoacrylate monomer.

    Abstract: A high temperature ceramic filter is produced from a composition containing efractory cement, aggregate, pore forming additives, and sintering agents. The pore forming additives are synthetic or organic powders or fibers which sublimate, melt, or otherwise disintegrate to produce in situ pores in the cement during the refractory treatment of a cast filter. The filters produced are permeable to high temperature gases commonly found in a coal furnace and can be used to collect particulate matter present in those gases.
