  • Patent number: 8156913
Abstract: The subject invention provides a coolant cross-over for circulating an engine coolant between a first engine component, e.g., a first cylinder head, and a second engine component, e.g., a second cylinder head. The coolant cross-over defines a first outlet in fluid communication with the first engine component, a second outlet in fluid communication with second engine component, and further defines a passage interconnecting the first outlet and the second outlet. The coolant cross-over comprises a polymer. A sleeve comprises polyaromatic sulfide and is disposed within the passage for separating the engine coolant from the nylon which forms the coolant cross-over to prevent physical, thermal and/or chemical degradation of the polymeric coolant cross-over by the engine coolant.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: July 18, 2008
Date of Patent: April 17, 2012
Assignees: BASF SE, Chevron Phillips Chemical Company LP
Inventors: Scott C. Schlicker, Raymond J. Ballou, Jr., James R. Wareham, Thomas L. Giovannetti, Rick Kunc, Sandra K. McClelland

  • Patent number: 5289311
Abstract: An optical element such as a rear projection screen for an image display device comprises at least two substantially rigid sheet members each having a first major surface and a second major surface providing a plane of incidence and a plane of emergence, respectively, through which light is transmitted sequentially. A first sheet member comprises a Fresnel lens, and a second sheet member comprises a lenticular lens array on each of the major surfaces thereof. The plane of emergence on the second major surface of the first sheet member includes the Fresnel lens formed of a radiation curable material. A method of making the Fresnel lens is described.

Inventors: Sandra K. McClelland, Randall E. McCoy, Dominic S. Rosati, Jr.
  • Patent number: 4726659
Abstract: A display device, such as an LCD, has alignment layers made of different materials; thus one layer can have a low curing temperature so as not to cause damage to delicate organic layers, such as a color filter, during curing, while the other layer can have a larger tilt angle so as to minimize ambiguities in the liquid crystal material.

Inventors: Neal D. Conrad, Sandra K. McClelland, William R. Roach
  • Patent number: 4695490
Abstract: A sealant composition to seal the fill port in a liquid crystal display is disclosed. The subject composition is comprised of a diglycidylether of bisphenol A epoxy precursor, a curing agent therefor and, optionally, a minor amount of a thixotropic agent.

  • Patent number: 4618514
Abstract: Liquid crystal displays are improved by using as the alignment layer an alkali-soluble resin which is an addition resin of (a) at least one ethylenically unsaturated, ligand-free monomer and (b) at least one ethylenically unsaturated monomer having at least one carboxyl group. The resin is optically clear and is characterized by being exceptionally stable.
