  • Patent number: 7319861
Abstract: Network initiated auto redialing is based on an auto redial duration selected or entered by a calling party. An auto redial interval or retry rate may also be selected or entered by the calling party. If the calling party is unavailable when a connection is established with a called party, a message is played or sent to the called party explaining that the call is an auto redial call. The message may explain that the calling party is now unavailable. Additionally, the message may include identifying information regarding the calling party. For example, the message may include a directory number of the calling party.

  • Publication number: 20080009271
Abstract: A system and method of providing sports statistics to one or more mobile telecommunications handsets during a sporting event is provided. Sports statistics relevant to a participant-highlighting event occurring during the sporting event, such as a baseball player coming up to bat at a baseball game, are delivered to a Subscriber's mobile telecommunications handset. The relevant statistics are generated and delivered to the handset during the participant-highlighting event. Subscribers can provide subscriber-specific criteria to customize the statistics information they receive.

  • Publication number: 20070273501
Abstract: A mobile communications network is provisioned to provide surveillance services. A subscriber database is adapted to include surveillance service information. For example, the subscriber database is adapted to include an IP address of a surveillance sensor such as a camera or microphone associated with a subscriber and located at a place to be monitored. A mobile switching center is adapted to determine a surveillance session start time, receive the surveillance sensor IP address from the subscriber database and connect to the surveillance sensor associated with the IP address. The MSC is also adapted to receive surveillance information from the surveillance sensor and transmit the surveillance information to a mobile communications device of the subscriber. The mobile communications device presents the surveillance information to the user. For example, images are displayed and/or audio signals are produced. The subscriber database can be provisioned by the subscriber through a web portal.

  • Patent number: 6839022
Abstract: Geographic coordinates of user equipment of a calling party are determined either by communicating with a GPS receiver associated with the user equipment of the calling party or by cellular triangulation. The geographic coordinates may be converted into an associated common location description. For example the common location description is a city name, an address, or a distance and direction from a landmark. The common location description, or an abbreviation thereof, is transmitted to user equipment of a called party. Using this service, parents may verify the location of their children. Security agencies or delivery services may verify and/or log the location of their personnel.

  • Publication number: 20040260630
Abstract: Apparatus and a method for providing mobile telephone subscribers with data on accumulated usage. Most billing plans provide a subscriber with a basic number of minutes of usage (frequently separate off-peak and peak period usage) and then charge a relatively high amount for any excess use. In accordance with this invention, a mobile switching center and its associated subscriber database keep track of the accumulated usage by category of the mobile telephone over the course of a billing period (typically one month). Subscribers are warned if their accumulated usage threatens to exceed or exceeds the allowable basic usage of their billing plan. Advantageously, mobile telephone subscribers receive warnings of pending overflow on their usage so that they can either restrain their usage if it is likely that they will exceed the limits of their billing plan or they can upgrade their service plan to more closely match their typical usage habits.
