  • Patent number: 8550793
Abstract: A compressor arrangement for compressing fresh air for internal combustion engines includes a compressor wheel and an electric motor having at least one stator and at least one rotor having a rotor magnet and a rotor gap between the rotor and stator. The rotor gap is designed such that when the compressor wheel rotates, at least 50%, of the air mass flow to be compressed is fed through the rotor gap. The compressor wheel is mounted on a shaft or contains the shaft and at least one rotor magnet or a carrier for holding the rotor magnet and is mountable as a separate part on said shaft and may be bolted, splinted, glued, shrunk, or secured by form-fit to said shaft to prevent rotation.

  • Patent number: 8371121
Abstract: A turbocharger includes a turbine wheel, a compressor wheel connected thereto, an electric motor situated on the side of the compressor wheel which is distant to the turbine wheel, and a rotor connected to the compressor wheel in a rotationally fixed manner and designed in a freely projecting manner. A drive system for motor vehicles includes a turbocharger. The turbocharger is characterized by a very spontaneous response behavior, as well as the possibility for energy recovery.

  • Publication number: 20100212643
Abstract: The present invention relates to a compressor arrangement for compressing fresh air for internal combustion engines, comprising a compressor wheel (3) and an electric motor (4) having at least one stator (4b) and at least one rotor (4a) having a rotor magnet (4c) and a rotor gap between the rotor (4a) and stator (4b), the rotor gap being designed such that when the compressor wheel rotates, at least 50%, preferably at least 90%, especially preferably 100% of the air mass flow to be compressed is fed through the rotor gap, wherein the compressor wheel (3) is mounted on a shaft (8) or contains said shaft (3a) and at least one rotor magnet (4c) or a carrier (20) for holding the rotor magnet is mountable as a separate part on said shaft and may be bolted, splinted, glued, shrunk, or secured by form-fit to said shaft to prevent rotation. Thus, an energy-saving and very fast-acting compressor for motor vehicles is provided that can particularly be produced on a large industrial scale, cost-effectively, and quickly.

  • Publication number: 20080292480
Abstract: An electric motor for conveying media includes (a) a stator; (b) a rotor including a rotor magnet; and (c) a media throughput opening between the stator and the rotor. A smallest inner diameter of the stator is 1.5- to 8-times as large as a largest outer diameter of the rotor magnet.
