Abstract: A system and method of vehicle delay notification. The method includes determining a vehicle delay, determining that the vehicle delay meets or exceeds a delay threshold, determining one or more affected mobile telecommunications subscribers, and sending a message to one or more mobile telecommunications phones notifying the one or more affected mobile telecommunications subscribers that the is vehicle delayed. The system determines the vehicle delay and sends a message to one or more mobile telecommunications phones notifying one or more affected subscribers that the vehicle is delayed.

Abstract: A system and method for detecting wireless telecommunications mobile handset software corruption is provided. The method includes retrieving stored configuration data and stored checksum for a mobile handset stored on a wireless telecommunications network element, determining an actual checksum from the mobile handset, comparing the actual mobile handset checksum with the stored checksum retrieved from the network element, and detecting a mobile handset software corruption. Uncorrupted software can then be downloaded to the mobile handset thereby repairing the software corruption.

Abstract: The present invention provides a method for alerting a communication unit of an emergency call request from an emergency calling unit. A Mobile Switching Center (MSC) receives an emergency call request from an emergency calling unit. The MSC determines if a communication unit should be alerted of the emergency call request. If so, the MSC alerts the communication unit of the emergency call request. The alert can include information about the emergency call request, such as the directory number of the emergency calling unit, the time that the emergency call was placed, or the location of the emergency calling unit.

Abstract: A method and apparatus for connecting a plurality of called party terminals in a bridged a call session with a Voice Over Internet Protocol (VOIP) calling party terminal. The method includes the VOIP terminal sending called party terminal identifiers identifying each called party terminal to a calling party Service Control Point (SCP), and creating a bridged call session at the SCP connecting the called party terminals and the calling party VOIP terminal. The apparatus includes a system for sending called party terminal identifiers identifying each called party terminal to a calling party Service Control Point (SCP), and creating a bridged call session at the SCP connecting the called party terminals and the calling party VOIP terminal.

Abstract: Structures and methods are disclosed for corrupting image files of a mobile image device (e.g., picture phone) in some manner if the image files are initially captured within a designated “no image zone.” The mobile image device queries a wireless telecommunication network upon capturing an image. The network instructs the mobile image device to corrupt the image if it determined to have been captured within a no-image zone. The mobile image device may save the image if it was not captured within a designated “no image” zone.

Abstract: A system and method for providing a plurality of separate Voice Over Internet Protocol (VOIP) call sessions for a single Directory Number (DN). The method includes associating a plurality of IP addresses with a single DN, communicating the association to a Switching Center responsible for routing calls between the DN and the Public Switched Telephone Network (PSTN), determining that an existing VOIP call session associated with the DN is in progress, and creating another separate simultaneous VOIP call session for the DN. A communications system includes a switching center receiving an association between a plurality of IP addresses and a single DN for providing a plurality of separate simultaneous VOIP call sessions for the DN.

Abstract: A wireless telecommunication network recognizes and blocks image transmissions from designated “no image zones.” In such manner, the wireless telecommunication network can block the transmission of video and/or photo images from mobile image device(s) (e.g., picture phones) attempting to send images from sensitive locations.

Abstract: Embodiments of the method and system provide for automatic balancing of audio signal strength levels on voice paths between first and second parties in a telecommunication system. The method in an embodiment may have the steps of: checking for a subscription to audio signal strength level balancing by at least one of the first and second parties; and balancing, if at least one of the first and second parties has the subscription, audio signal strength levels on voice paths between the first and second parties. The system implements the method.

Abstract: Embodiments of the method and system provide for network support for call record privacy in a telecommunication system. The method in an embodiment may have the steps of: checking for a subscription to the call record privacy feature by a subscriber; checking if the call record privacy feature is active for a call associated with the subscriber; and marking call detail records of the call as “private” when the call record privacy feature is active. The system implements the method.

Abstract: Embodiments of the method and system provide for notifying a post office box renter when mail is available for pickup. The method in an embodiment may have the steps of: detecting at least one mail item in a post office box; sending a signal indicative of the mail item being in the post office box to a P.O. Box Mail Notification Server; sending a message from the P.O. Box Mail Notification Server to a mobile switching center; and sending a notification indicating the presence of mail in the post office box from the mobile switching center to a mobile terminal associated with the post office box. The system implements the method.

Abstract: A method of generating a certified email return receipt is provided. The method includes receiving an email requiring a certified email return receipt in a locked condition, prompting a person attempting to open the email to enter certified email return receipt information, collecting the certified email return receipt information entered by the person attempting to open the email, unlocking the email thereby enabling the email to be opened after the collecting step, opening the email after the collecting step for the person who entered the certified email return receipt information, and generating a certified email return receipt certifying that the email was received by the person who entered the certified email return receipt information.

Abstract: A wireless telephony network provides satellite radio program information and content, in addition to conventional wireless telephony services, to eligible mobile stations of the wireless telephony network. The wireless telephony network receives satellite radio programming from a satellite radio service network, establishes one or more bearer channels (e.g., conventional voice channels or higher-bandwidth data links) and sends the programming to the one or more mobile stations via the one or more bearer channels. The wireless telephony network monitors and obtains billing information associated with integrated service delivery and coordinates the billing information with a satellite radio service provider. A controlling provider may be selected to control billing for the integrated services such that the customer receives a single statement.

Abstract: A wireless telephony network provides satellite TV derivative program information and content, in addition to conventional wireless telephony services, to eligible mobile stations of the wireless telephony network. The wireless telephony network receives satellite TV programming from a satellite TV service network, establishes one or more bearer channels (e.g., conventional voice channels or higher-bandwidth data links) and sends the programming to the one or more mobile stations via the one or more bearer channels. The wireless telephony network monitors and obtains billing information associated with integrated service delivery and coordinates the billing information with a satellite TV service provider. Abstract: Embodiments of the system and method allow a mobile terminal to download customization applications from a network. The method may have the steps of: sending, by a mobile terminal, a request to the network to download mobile terminal functionality; verifying, by the network, authorized access for the mobile terminal to this functionality; and downloading, by the network, the functionality to the mobile terminal.

Abstract: A method and apparatus for providing network support for fax management via a mobile device are provided. More particularly, the exemplary embodiments described relate to a technique that allows a mobile subscriber to manage incoming faxes by choosing, for example, to read, store, delete, forward, or print the fax at the time the fax call is received. In addition, the system allows a mobile subscriber to manage faxes that have already been stored on a network fax management system from a mobile handset by, for example, reading, printing, deleting, or forwarding the received faxes.

Abstract: Embodiments of the system and method allow a mobile terminal to customize call forwarding requests. The method may have the steps of: sending, from a terminal, a call forwarding customizing request to the network that initiates forwarding of calls from one phone number to another phone number; verifying, by the network, authorized access for the terminal to the call forwarding functionality for the requested phone number; instructing, by the network, the terminal to enter appropriate data having defined parameters for the call forwarding customizing request; begin forwarding calls, by the network, from the one phone number to the another phone number as defined by the terminal; and continuing to forward calls until the call forwarding is canceled by the terminal or until the call forwarding is cancelled according to the defined parameters.

Abstract: Embodiments of the system, and method provide for identification of a number being dialed on an incoming call to a multi-line terminal. The method may have the steps of: receiving a call at a network, the call being for a multi-line terminal having at least two different numbers; checking a mobile subscriber database for a data entry indicative of the terminal being a multi-line mobile terminal; and presenting not only caller identification information to the called terminal, but also presenting the number that was dialed by the calling party so that a called party would know which of the at least two different numbers was being called. The multi-line terminal may be a multi-line mobile terminal that has at least two distinct and independent numbers assigned thereto.
