  • Patent number: 11911875
Abstract: A flexible abrasive member including a substrate, which carries an array of deposits with embedded abrasive particles, where each deposit has an elongated continuous structure that extends along a center trajectory predominantly in a longitudinal direction across the substrate. The structure has inset portions and recessed portions, which protrude oppositely along a transverse directions from the center trajectory. The inset portions of a deposit are accommodated in the recessed portions of a transversely preceding deposit, and the recessed portions of the deposit accommodate the inset portions of a transversely following deposit, so that the inset portions and recessed portions of neighboring deposits mutually overlap in said transverse directions.

  • Publication number: 20230096027
Abstract: A method for manufacturing an abrasive article (10), including: providing a sheet including a support layer (12) and members (20) of a quick release system, QRS (18, 19) applying a metal coating (36) onto the support layer and the QRS members; applying abrasive particles (38) onto at least part of the first surface of the support layer, so that the particles are thermally connected to the metal coating; The support layer defines a plurality of openings (26) that extend from a first surface (14) of the layer, through the layer, to an opposite surface (16) of the layer, and which allow abrasion dust to pass through. The QRS members are fixed on or in the support layer and protrude from this opposite surface, and are configured to fix the article to a surface including complementary QRS members (19).

  • Publication number: 20100267319
Abstract: A system for connecting a disc to a disc holder, e.g. for grinding or polishing purposes, has a disc with an operating surface, an opposite connection surface and a protrusion which is mounted to the connection surface. The disc holder has a supporting surface for supporting the connection surface of the disc and a socket in the supporting surface of the disc holder for receiving the protrusion. The connection surface of the disc and the supporting surface of the disc holder are provided with a fixation element distributed over the surfaces outside the protrusion and the socket respectively.

  • Publication number: 20090044458
Abstract: A system for indicating the nature of an abrasive surface that is determined by an abrasive with a regular pattern, at least a basic portion of which is repeated, which system comprises at least two different abrasive elements that each have an abrasive surface, wherein the basic portion of the pattern of the one abrasive surface has different dimensions to the basic portion of the pattern of the other abrasive surface.

  • Patent number: 6372112
Abstract: A method of manufacturing a flexible abrasive member, includes the steps of providing a porous substrate, impregnating the substrate with an electrically isolating material, treating a side of the impregnated substrate so as to provide areas with different properties as to water or solvent resistance, washing the impregnating substrate with water or solvent so as to wash away the areas with relatively low water or solvent resistance for obtaining a prepared substrate with discrete areas, placing the prepared substrate in a metal deposition math, and depositing metal in the discrete areas in the presence of abrasive particles so as to form abrasive metal deposits.

  • Patent number: 6214068
Abstract: A flexible abrasive member comprises a porous layer which carries deposits with embedded abrasive particles, said deposits being separated from each other. The deposits are arranged and shaped in such a way that they are mutually interlocked. Thereby, the tearing strength of the member is increased. As an example, the deposits may have cooperating convex and concave shapes. Also, the deposits may have hook-shaped or arrow-shaped protrusions which are hooked into each other.

  • Patent number: 6095912
Abstract: A flexible abrasive member comprises a porous sheet carrying deposits which consist of a metal containing abrasive particles. The deposits have been applied to the porous sheet by electroplating and the sheet has been impregnated with a coating for stabilizing the deposits, The deposits comprise at least one hollow space through which the sheet extends, which hollow space is filled with coating material.

  • Patent number: 5755946
Abstract: A flexible abrasive member comprising a first porous layer of mesh, non-woven or perforated sheet, conductive or non-conductive material to which on one side deposits are deposited by way of any metal plating technique of either the electrolytic, electroless or vacuum deposition type, or any galvanic process, abrasive particles being embedded in the metal deposits, a layer of filling material, such as a resin, being present between the deposits which filling material is bonded to said first porous layer and/or the deposits, and at least a second porous layer of mesh, non-woven or perforated sheet, conductive or non-conductive material being present and being laid substantially along one side of the first porous layer. The side edge of the deposit has at least one annular groove along at least part of the circumference of the deposit.
