Abstract: Disclosed is a motor-clutch assembly of a direct engagement type washing machine. The assembly comprises a section for transmitting a driving force of a motor to a pulsator, a section for transmitting the driving force to a dehydrating tub, and a clutch section for transmitting or cutting off the driving force by using a cam. The clutch section comprises a lower clutch fixed on a driving shaft of the motor, an upper clutch fixed on the driving shaft and engaged with the dehydrating tub driving force transmission section so as to be engaged with or separated from the lower clutch, a clutch guide for supporting the upper clutch, a cam member for guiding the clutch guide up and down, a cam gear for moving the clutch guide along the cam member, and a lever gear for rotating the cam gear. The clutch guide is moved up and down by the rotation of the cam gear. Then, the upper clutch is moved up and down so as to be engaged with or separated from the lower clutch.

Abstract: A driving system for a washing machine having a washing shaft connected with an agitator in the center of a washing tub to stir laundry in washing mode, and an extracting shaft positioned outside the washing shaft and connected with an extracting tub which rotates at high speeds in extracting mode, further includes a power generator for generating power to rotate the washing shaft and the extracting shaft, a decelerator installed under the power generator to reduce the number of rotation transmitted from the power generator, and a power-switching device for de-energizing the extracting shaft in washing mode and for energizing the extracting shaft in extracting mode.

Abstract: A clothes washing machine includes a main washing/spin-dry tub and an auxiliary tub in which clothes can be boiled. The auxiliary tub has its own water supply and a heater for heating the water. The auxiliary tub can be permanently attached to the main washer housing or it can be removable therefrom. A rotary drum can be disposed within the auxiliary tub, which drum can serve as a clothes dryer when free of water and with the heater actuated.

Abstract: A clothes washing machine includes an oscillatory agitator and a rotary spin dry container (tub). The agitator and spin dry container are driven by a drive shaft. The drive shaft rotates only in a first direction during a wash cycle, and only in a second direction during a spin dry cycle. A motion conversion mechanism disposed between the agitator and drive shaft converts the first-direction rotation of the drive shaft into oscillation of the agitator.
