  • Patent number: 7370407
Abstract: A disc centering device includes a base plate, a chuck which is installed on the base plate, a hub unit which is detachably engaged to the chuck and receives discs to be stacked, disc pushers which are slidably provided outside the hub unit and include corresponding pressure members which center the discs by pushing circumferences of the discs, and a driving unit which slides the disc pushers simultaneously. Accordingly, as the accuracy of centering the discs is improved, discs with data recorded thereon having a uniform quality can be obtained. Additionally, vibration of a rotation body can be minimized due to the simple configuration the disc centering device. Therefore, in view of the simplified maintenance and repair of the disc centering device, the productivity and manufacturability of HDDs can be improved.

  • Publication number: 20080091416
Abstract: Provided are a method, medium and apparatus for enhancing an acoustic signal using an auditory property. An acoustic signal is enhanced by generating a plurality of harmonic signals based on a predetermined acoustic signal frequency, selecting harmonic signals, which exist in an area masked by the predetermined harmonic signal, from among the generated plurality of harmonic signals, and outputting harmonic signals remaining after excluding the selected harmonic signals from the generated plurality of harmonic signals. The enhancement results in a bass signal of good sound quality and having a low distortion ratio, without changing the structure of a micro speaker.

  • Publication number: 20070160215
Abstract: An operation method of a binaural system and the binaural system adopting the method is provided. That is, a method to stably provide a stereo sound, creating a plurality of sound images and expanding a listening sweet spot by using a plurality of static filters or modulation filters when a user listens to an audio sound, even if a user turns his/her head to or moves, and the method adopted by the binaural system. The binaural system includes a plurality of static filters connected in parallel to each other, the plurality of static filters creates a sound image in a different location by controlling an output location of an inputted audio signal, and a control unit inputting the audio signal to the plurality of static filters.

  • Patent number: 7068472
Abstract: An actuator latch apparatus of a hard disk drive for locking a pivoting actuator includes a locking protrusion provided at one side of the actuator, a latch lever pivotably installed on the base and elastically biased such that a hook portion provided at one side of the latch lever restricts the locking protrusion, and an air flow pipe provided at the base and generating a driving torque to the latch lever by a pressure differential between the atmosphere and air flowing along a channel formed in the air flow pipe. Thus, since locking and unlocking are performed by selectively restricting the locking protrusion provided at the actuator, unlocking can be smoothly performed without any impacts while a locking state is maintained firmly. Also, since locking and unlocking of the actuator is driven by elastic bias and the rotation of the hard disk, power consumption is reduced.

  • Publication number: 20060050909
Abstract: A sound reproducing apparatus and a sound reproducing method. The sound reproducing apparatus includes an actual listening environment feature function database where an actual listening space feature function is stored for correcting the virtual source in response to a feature of an actual listening space provided at the time of listening; and an actual listening space feature correcting unit of reading out the actual listening space feature function stored in the actual listening environment feature function database, and correcting the virtual source based on the reading result. Accordingly, causes of each distortion may be removed to provide sounds having the best quality.

  • Publication number: 20060013419
Abstract: A sound reproducing apparatus for providing an optimal virtual sound source and a sound reproducing method therefor are provided. The sound reproducing apparatus includes a virtual sound signal generation unit for generating more than one virtual sound signal corresponding to locations and the number of target virtual sound sources on the basis of more than one inputted sound signal, and a virtual sound signal downmix unit for downmixing said more than one virtual sound signal to virtual sound signal outputs corresponding to a predetermined number of output channels. The number and locations of diversely variable virtual sound sources are provided, thereby obtaining an effect of providing an optimal virtual sound source adaptively depending on each different environment.

  • Patent number: 6975483
Abstract: A disk recording device to manufacture hard disk drives. This disk recording device includes a spindle to detachably hold a disk of a hard disk drive. A spindle motor rotates the spindle. A recording unit records data on a surface of the disk while moving over the surface of the disk held on the spindle. A disk protecting unit covers the surfaces of the disk to protect the disk from an external environment when the disk is rotated. In the disc recording device, the disk protecting unit approaches or moves away from the disk through a reciprocating motion within a predetermined range.
