  • Patent number: 7581018
Abstract: Disclosed is a server system for performing communication over a wireless network. At least one client device transmits and receives data over the wireless network. A server device performs a state monitoring or controlling operation for the at least one client device. In the server device, an encoder compresses and encodes data to be transmitted that includes a double buffer storing the encoded data. A network renderer transmits the data encoded by the encoder to a corresponding client device over the wireless network. A buffer manager detects an overflow of the buffer storing the data encoded by the encoder and issues a control signal for pausing an encoding operation when the overflow is detected. Therefore, the server system can avoid data loss and system shutdown caused by transmission delay and can ensure stability of the server system performing communication with a wireless network.

  • Patent number: 7440401
Abstract: The present invention relates, in general, to streaming technology and, more particularly, to a packet scheduling method for streaming multimedia data. The packet scheduling method of the present invention streams multimedia data by a server in a network. The network includes the server for providing multimedia data divided into picture groups each having a sequence of N pictures, and a terminal for displaying the multimedia data received from the server in a streaming manner. In the packet scheduling method, the sequences of the pictures are divided into motion part packets and texture part packets, and priorities are assigned to the packets according to temporal scaling. A threshold for a predetermined priority is determined in consideration of conditions of a channel and a buffer status of the terminal and a substream is constructed using packets with priorities below the threshold within the respective picture groups. The packets in the constructed substream are sequentially transmitted to the terminal.

  • Patent number: 7401282
Abstract: Disclosed are a server system for performing communication over a wireless network and a communication method thereof. The server system comprises at least one client device and a server device for performing a state monitoring operation or a control operation for the client device over the wireless network. When a data packet is sent, the server device begins to send a following packet by variably applying a transmission rate according to a network transmission state when a leading packet has been completely transmitted. Because a transmission rate can be set appropriately to the network state, the number of unnecessary retransmissions can be reduced. Therefore, transmission delay can be avoided and stable and rapid wireless communication can be achieved.

  • Publication number: 20040073620
Abstract: A method for operating a home network system which can allow a home server appliance to assign, to a client appliance newly connected to a home network, a unique ID (Identifier or Identity) different from IDs assigned to already connected client appliances, such that all home appliances connected to the home network can be appropriately controlled. As a unique ID is assigned to the client appliance newly connected to the home network so that the newly connected client appliance is automatically bound to the home network, it is assured that different IDs are assigned to the client appliances, made by different manufacturers, connected to the home network. Therefore, a plurality of client appliances can be appropriately discriminated and controlled and the reliability of a control operation can be improved in the home network system.
