Abstract: A refrigerator comprises: a case having a cooling chamber; a machine room disposed on one side of the case, and configured to accommodate a compressor therein; a condenser disposed on an outer surface of the case; and a heat emission unit configured to guide external air of the case for heat emission of the compressor and the condenser. In the refrigerator, heat emission of the machine room and the condenser is sufficiently performed, and a compact configuration of the machine room is implemented.

Abstract: A refrigerator having improved cooling and cooling recovery is provided. A main body of the refrigerator may include an outer casing that defines an external appearance of the refrigerator, and an inner casing with an open upper face installed in the outer casing to define a storage space therein. The open upper face of the main body may be opened and closed by a door. The inner casing may include a casing upper portion and a casing lower portion coupled to the bottom of the casing upper portion. The casing lower portion may be formed of a material different from that of the casing upper portion. The casing upper portion may be made of a material having a high thermal conductivity, and the casing lower portion may be made of a material having a lower thermal conductivity that that of the casing upper portion.

Abstract: An illumination device for a refrigerator and a method of controlling the same are provided. The illumination device includes a lamp assembly that irradiates light to an inside of a storage chamber of the refrigerator, a base plate mounted on a side within the storage chamber, wherein the lamp assembly is provided on a side of the base plate, a watertight cover formed to enclose the lamp assembly blocking direct penetration of water into the lamp assembly, and at least one fastening device formed on a side of the base plate. The at least one fastening device surrounds an outer surface and an inner surface of entire lower edge of the watertight cover along a side of the watertight cover forming a recess-prominence engagement with the watertight cover. Lamps provided in the lamp assembly are individually controlled through a manipulation panel mounted on the main body.

Abstract: A main body of a kimchi refrigerator according to the present invention comprises an outer casing for defining an external appearance of the refrigerator and an inner casing with an open upper face installed in the outer casing to define a storage space therein. Further, a door of the refrigerator opens and closes the open upper face of the main body. The inner casing of the kimchi refrigerator according to the present invention includes a casing upper portion in the form of a box and a casing lower portion coupled to the bottom of the casing upper portion and formed of a material different from that of the casing upper portion. The casing upper portion is made of a material with high thermal conductivity, e.g. aluminum or the like, and the casing lower portion is made of a material with lower thermal conductivity than that of the casing upper portion.
