  • Patent number: 7056002
Abstract: A method of forming a backlight assembly is presented. The invention reduces the degradation of display quality caused by an uneven expansion of the reflective sheet in a display device. The reflective sheet may be positioned between the light guiding plate and the base in a backlight assembly of a display device. The backlight assembly includes a light source, a light guiding plate positioned to guide light from the light source in a predetermined direction, a base on which the light guiding plate is mounted, and a reflective sheet positioned between the light guiding plate and the base. The reflective sheet has a cutout. A supporting structure extends through the cutout between the light guiding plate and the base to support the light guiding plate. A liquid crystal display device made with such backlight assembly is also presented.

  • Publication number: 20060104094
Abstract: A back light assembly comprises a light source, a power supply line, a receiving container, a fixing member and at least one connecting member. The light source generates light, and the power supply line supplies electrical power to the light source. The receiving container receives the light source. The fixing member is disposed on a rear face of the receiving container so as to attach the power supply line to the receiving container. The connecting member is disposed on the receiving container so as to couple the fixing member to the rear face of the receiving container. The power supply line may be firmly fixed to the receiving container so that a failure or a breakage of the power supply line may be prevented.

  • Publication number: 20060028839
Abstract: A backlight assembly includes a receiving container, a light guide plate, a light source unit, an optical member and a panel-guiding member. The receiving container includes a bottom plate and a sidewall extended from an edge portion of the bottom plate. The light source unit includes a light source generating light and disposed at side face of the light guide plate, and a light reflecting cover that covers the light source to reflect the light generated from the light source toward the side face. The optical member is disposed over the light guide plate. The panel-guiding member has a first plate combined with the sidewall of the receiving container, and a second plate extended from the first plate such that the second plate covers a portion of the optical member and is spaced apart from an upper face of the optical member. Therefore, warpage and cleavage of the optical member are prevented.

  • Publication number: 20050243571
Abstract: A backlight assembly includes a lamp unit, a covering member, a panel guiding member and a lamp supporting member. The lamp unit has a first electrode and a second electrode disposed at a first side of the lamp unit and a curved portion disposed at a second side of the lamp unit that is opposite to the first side. The covering member covers at least one of a first region corresponding to the first and second electrodes and a second region corresponding to the curved portion. The panel guiding member is configured to support a display panel that displays images using light generated by the lamp unit. The lamp supporting member is configured to retain the lamp unit. Therefore, a number of inverters may be reduced, thereby lowering cost and time of manufacturing the backlight assembly. Furthermore, reliability of the backlight assembly may be enhanced.

  • Publication number: 20040246397
Abstract: To prevent particles from infiltrating into a display apparatus, a liquid crystal display panel supporting member includes a first particle interceptor and a second interceptor. The first particle interceptor is formed along the top face of the first supporting member frame portion facing a bottom plate of a liquid crystal display panel that is to be mounted on the liquid crystal display panel supporting member. The first particle interceptor has at least two cut portions. The second particle interceptor is disposed between the cut portions to prevent particles from infiltrating into the first particle interceptor. Thus, the liquid crystal display apparatus may prevent deterioration of its display quality.
