A method of controlling a transmission rate includes changing a path for packet transmission/reception from a first path to a second path, setting a congestion window and a slow-start threshold to be used in the second path to a congestion window and a slow-start threshold used in the first path, and adapting the congestion window and the slow-start threshold to be used in the second path according to a packet loss generated in the second path.

Abstract: Disclosed herein is a method of allocating an Internet Protocol (IP) address and detecting the duplication of the IP address in an ad-hoc network environment. In the method of the present invention, a terminal allocates an IP address to itself and efficiently detects and handles the duplication of the IP address in the ad-hoc network environment, thus reducing the load of an entire network and allowing the method to be used together with existing routing protocols.

Abstract: An apparatus and method of changing an access point in a wireless network system is provided. The wireless network system includes a first access point existing on a wireless network, and a user terminal accessing the first access point. The first access point transmits information on a second access point, which is one of a plurality of access points accessible by the user terminal, to the user terminal, and the user terminal determines whether to access the second access point and accesses the second access terminal in accordance with the determination result.

Abstract: A method and system for dynamically updating information registered in ARP cache tables of other terminals in a case where a protocol address of a terminal existing in an ad hoc network changes. The method includes detecting whether protocol addresses of terminals are duplicated and changing the protocol addresses of some of the terminals having the duplicate protocol addresses; by a terminal whose protocol address has changed, transmitting information on the previously used protocol address and its own hardware address to neighboring terminals; updating the address information tables in accordance with the received information; by a terminal whose protocol address has not changed among the terminals having the duplicate protocol addresses, transmitting its own address information to the neighboring terminals; and by the neighboring terminals that has received the address information in the fourth step, updating the address information tables in accordance with the received information.

Abstract: A handover method and apparatus are provided. The handover method of a mobile station (MS) moving from a network of a first access point (AP) to a network of a second AP includes scanning the second AP through a specific channel according to a handover history registered in the MS; and associating the MS with the second AP according to a result obtained from the scanning. Accordingly, a time delay occurring in the process of scanning an AP is minimized, thereby avoiding data loss of a service requiring real-time based data transmission.

The method of computing an interval of message transmission in an access point located in a specific subnet, includes determining whether the access point is an edge access point located at a boundary between the specific subnet and a neighboring subnet, and computing an interval of transmission of a router advertisement (RA) message containing information regarding the specific subnet based on the determination result.

Channels available to the mobile station are selectively scanned based on information regarding one and more access points which are estimated to be present in a communication area of the mobile station, and a handover is performed to one of the access points based on the scanning result.

Abstract: A method and apparatus for measuring the quality of wireless channels based on a result obtained by measuring contentions between stations in a wireless network employing a carrier sense multiple access/collision avoidance (CSMA/CA) medium access control (MAC) method specified in the IEEE 802.11 standard are provided. The method includes determining contentions between stations to transmit frames via a wireless channel that uses a contention-based medium access method, and measuring the quality of the wireless channel based on the determined contentions.

A network device includes a virtual MAC information packet (VIP) management unit for transmitting or receiving information on the plurality of wireless links; a transmitted frame processing unit for allocating frames to be transmitted to a specified wireless link and transmitting the frames; and a channel allocation unit for receiving a wireless link allocation request, selecting a wireless link, and to transfer the information on the selected wireless link to the transmitted frame processing unit; wherein wireless data communications are performed through a virtual MAC address. The method includes transmitting or receiving information on the plurality of wireless links; and allocating frames to be transmitted to a specified wireless link among the plurality of wireless links and transmitting the frames using the virtual MAC address.

According to the present invention, service information on a service agent providing a relevant service is received from a user agent that has previously broadcast a service request packet in a wireless ad hoc network environment, and consequently load on the network can be reduced. Further, service information is received from a user agent, and an additional selection algorithm for storing the service information on a service agent is not required.

Abstract: A monitor stand, provided with a hub mount suitable for exteriorly mounting a universal serial bus (USB) hub used for connecting various peripheral equipment to a computer, is disclosed. The monitor stand has a USB hub including top and bottom covers with a USB printed circuit board being interposed between the top and bottom covers. The hub mount is formed at a predetermined position of the stand and has a hub cavity for receiving the USB hub. The stand also has a means for holding the USB hub inside the hub mount, with the USB hub being recessed into the hub mount.

Abstract: An apparatus for securing a cable to the outer case of an electric device and an electric device comprising the same are disclosed. A groove in which the cable can move in a direction perpendicular to the longitudinal direction of the cable is provided at an outer case. The apparatus for securing the device forms a part of the outer case after the apparatus is assembled, and the electric device can be separated without interference with the outer case after the apparatus is detached. The apparatus for securing the cable can be easily detached by a screw driver.
