  • Publication number: 20060133221
Abstract: The present invention relates to a method of enabling to reproduce main AN data recorded on a high-density recording medium such as a Blu-ray Disc ROM at a playback speed suitable to the recorded main A/V data. In the present method, when main video data is recorded on a recording medium, playback speed information suitable to the video data is also written within a disc information table allocated in a control area that is located ahead of a data area including the video data. The present method is efficiently applicable to a high-density recording medium containing higher-quality video data that requires higher transfer rate than a digital TV broadcast stream that requires about 36 Mbps transfer rate.

  • Publication number: 20060101283
Abstract: A high-density optical disc, a method for encrypting data and recording the encrypted data thereon, and a method for reproducing the encrypted data recorded thereon. Data recorded on a high-density optical disc such as a Blu-ray disc-read only memory (BD-ROM) is recorded in a discontinuous recording format as on a high-density rewritable optical disc such as a Blu-ray disc rewritable (BD-RE). Data can be encrypted and recorded using synchronous data, address unit number (AUN) information or disc radius information recorded in the high-density optical disc. An optical disc apparatus such as a BD-ROM player can maintain reproduction compatibility with the high-density rewritable optical disc such as the BD-RE. A user holding an optical disc apparatus such as a BD-RE recorder, etc. can be prevented from unlawfully copying data recorded on the high-density optical disc and reproducing the copied data.

  • Publication number: 20060015801
Abstract: The present invention relates to a method for encoding and decoding an error correction block, and more particularly to a method for encoding and decoding an error correction block useful for a high-density optical disc. When an error correction block is encoded, a user data block is generated and parity outer information for a vertical data stream within the user data block is generated. Then, parity inner information is generated using an eraser detection code contained in a horizontal data stream or at least one of a syndrome check parity, a sync byte and an indicator flag is generated within the user data block so that an eraser can be declared in the horizontal data stream at a predetermined internal. On the other hand, when the error correction block is decoded, a determination is made as to whether errors are detected from the eraser detection code, the syndrome check parity, etc., and erasers are declared according to a result of the determination.
