  • Publication number: 20060020935
Abstract: A system and method for decoding data (e.g., decoding audio data in an audio decoder) utilizing dynamic code reconfiguration. Various aspects of the present invention may comprise identifying a data frame to process. Such identification may, for example, comprise selecting a data frame from a plurality of input channels. A processing task may be selected from a plurality of processing tasks. Such a processing task may, for example, comprise data parsing, decoding, combined parsing and decoding, and a variety of other tasks. Software instructions corresponding to the selected processing task may be identified and loaded from a first memory module into a local memory module and executed to process the identified data frame. The first memory module may, for example, comprise memory external to a signal-processing module, and the local memory module may, for example, comprise memory internal to the signal-processing module.

  • Publication number: 20050262287
Abstract: A system and method for processing data (e.g., encoded audio data in an audio decoder). Various aspects of the present invention may comprise a first memory module comprising a first software module and a second software module. A signal-processing module may comprise a processor and local memory. A first data segment may be received, and the processor may identify the first software module for processing the first data segment. The first software module may be transferred to the local memory and executed by the processor to process the first data segment. A second data segment may be received, and the processor may identify the second software module for processing the second data segment. The second software module may be transferred to the local memory in memory space formerly occupied by the first software module. The processor may then utilize the second software module to process the second data segment.

  • Publication number: 20050036508
Abstract: Provided is a system and method for communicating audio. A method includes transmitting audio information segments on a first signal line, each segment including a format portion representative of audio format modes, and a data portion having audio data corresponding to one or more of the format modes. The method also includes transmitting a number of synchronization markers on a second signal line. Each marker is representative of a timing of one of the audio information segments.

  • Publication number: 20050028220
Abstract: A television on a chip (TVOC) system that provides a cost effective approach for providing television functionality on a single integrated circuit chip is disclosed. A TVOC includes the functionality necessary to receive and display television signals in a variety of input and output formats. A TVOC can be used in set-top boxes for cable and satellite television, or directly within a television. All functionality provided can be provided on a single integrated circuit. TVOC includes a data transport module, an IF demodulator, a digital audio engine, an analog audio engine, a digital video engine, and an analog video engine. The TVOC also includes three sets of interfaces including output interfaces, control interfaces and ancillary interfaces. Further features and embodiments provide enhanced functionality and increased efficiencies.
