  • Patent number: 7682672
Abstract: Disclosed are a negative C-type compensation film and a method of preparing the same. The negative C-type compensation film includes a) a base layer, and b) a polymer layer comprising polyarylate prepared by a method comprising the step of copolymerizing divalent phenols, divalent aromatic carboxylic acid halides, and allyl bisphenol derivatives, the base layer and the polymer layer being sequentially layered. The compensation film is capable of being used for the negative C-type compensation film without a stretching process, significantly reduces the thickness of the compensation film, and has significantly improved interlayer adhesion force in a multilayer structure.

  • Publication number: 20090036634
Abstract: The present invention relates to a process for preparing polyarylate, and more specifically, to a process for preparing polyarylate by interfacial polymerization of a bivalent phenol compound and an aromatic dicarboxylic acid or a halide thereof, which comprises mixing a cationic catalyst for the phase transition and a nonionic surfactant in a predetermined ratio, to further increase the yield of polyarylate, as compared with the case of using each of the nonionic surfactant and the cationic catalyst for the phase transition alone.

  • Publication number: 20090024397
Abstract: A unified filter bank for performing signal conversions may include an interface that receives signal conversion commands in relation to multiple types of compressed audio bitstreams. The unified filter bank may also include a reconfigurable transform component that performs a transform as part of signal conversion for the multiple types of compressed audio bitstreams. The unified filter bank may also include complementary modules that perform complementary processing as part of the signal conversion for the multiple types of compressed audio bitstreams. The unified filter bank may also include an interface command controller that controls the configuration of the reconfigurable transform component and the complementary modules.

  • Publication number: 20090002613
Abstract: Disclosed is a negative C-type retardation compensator for a liquid crystal display. The negative C-type retardation compensator for the liquid crystal display includes polyarylate having a thio group or a sulfur oxide group in a polymer main chain thereof. Accordingly, the retardation compensator has an absolute value of negative retardation that is larger in a thickness direction than a retardation compensator which includes polyarylate having no thio group or sulfur oxide group in a polymer main chain thereof even though the retardation compensator having the thio group or sulfur oxide group and the retardation compensator having no thio group or sulfur oxide group are the same as each other in thickness. Thereby, the negative C-type retardation compensator for liquid crystal displays is capable of being desirably applied to the liquid crystal displays.

  • Patent number: 7402650
Abstract: A process for preparing polyarylate wherein a bivalent phenol compound having the structure of Formula 1 and an aromatic dicarboxylic acid halogen compound react to prepare a polyarylate, and wherein a nonionic surface-active agent is added. This decreases residual salts and improves the transmittance and the heat-resistance. In Formula 1, R1, R2, R3 and R4 denote the same as illustrated in the description.

  • Publication number: 20080102226
Abstract: The present invention relates to a polyarylate film having high level of negative phase difference toward out of plane direction, which is good enough to be used as an optical compensator film providing wide view angle. The polyarylate film prepared in the present invention has bigger birefringence toward out of plane direction than that of polymer for the conventional compensator film, suggesting that it not only reduces the thickness of the final product but also has the effect of optical compensation only with thin film coating.

  • Publication number: 20070273817
Abstract: The present invention relates to a compensator film having multilayer structure including both negative optical retardation in thickness direction and optical retardation in in-plane direction at the same time to improve wide view angle, in which a polymer base layer provides optical retardation in in-plane direction, organic or organic/inorganic hybrid protective layer formed on the base layer contributes to the improvement of mechanical properties such as curl prevention and polymer orientation of coating layer, and the out-most layer, a polymer coating layer, endows optical retardation in thickness direction. The multilayer, in which each layer is individually functioning, enables the preparation of a compensator film having proper optical retardation.

  • Publication number: 20070094009
Abstract: Encoder-assisted frame loss concealment (FLC) techniques for decoding audio signals are described. A decoder may discard an erroneous frame of an audio signal and may implement the encoder-assisted FLC techniques in order to accurately conceal the discarded frame based on neighboring frames and side-information transmitted from the encoder. The encoder-assisted FLC techniques include estimating magnitudes of frequency-domain data for the frame based on frequency-domain data of neighboring frames, and estimating signs of the frequency-domain data based on a subset of signs transmitted from the encoder as side-information. Frequency-domain data for a frame of an audio signal includes tonal components and noise components. Signs estimated from a random signal may be substantially accurate for the noise components of the frequency-domain data.
