  • Patent number: 8345693
Abstract: A cooperative spatial multiplexing scheme in which the transmitter (source), equipped with a single antenna, forms virtual antenna arrays from a collection of distributed antennas belonging to different wireless terminals, and transmit a high-rate data stream to those terminals (relays). Each relay detects only a subset (called sub-stream) of the data stream and all relays forward their sub-streams simultaneously over the same physical channel. Then the receiver (destination) nulls and cancels the interference from different relays in order of the magnitude of log-likelihood ratio and detects the signal transmitted from the source.

  • Patent number: 6360345
Abstract: In a turbo decoder for code rate 1/n which consists of a decoding block, that is, n−1 constituent decoders, n−2 interleavers and n−2 deinterleavers, one embodiment of a decoding method according to the present invention comprises: a first decoding process of sequentially decoding starting from a first constituent decoder among the n−1 constituent decoders to generate a first log-likelihood ratio; a second decoding process of sequentially decoding starting from a second constituent decoder to generate a second log-likelihood ratio different from the first log-likelihood ratio, the second decoding process being activated in parallel with the first decoding process; a (n−1)th decoding process of sequentially decoding starting from a (n−1)th constituent decoder to generate a (n−1)th log-likelihood ratio different from the log-likelihood ratios, the (n−1)th decoding process being activated in parallel with other decoding processes; a step of optimally weighting respe

  • Patent number: 5819001
Abstract: Disclosed is an error correcting method for multispeed play which includes still, normal and high-speed play modes and is one of the most important functions of digital video cassette recorder (DVCR). A decoding method in normal play mode of DVCR comprises a first step of correcting errors with (n.sub.2 -(n.sub.a -k.sub.a),k.sub.2) RS code in each column vector, a second step of correcting or detecting errors with (n.sub.1,k.sub.1) RS code in each row vector, and erasing the entire symbols of a row vector if an error pattern is detected in the corresponding row vector, and a third step of correcting the erasures generated by the row decoder in the second step with (n.sub.2,k.sub.2) RS code in each column vector. The error correcting method enhances the error correcting capability in normal play mode as well as in high-speed play mode, and thus gives a lower symbol error rate than the conventional method does.
