  • Patent number: 9428251
Abstract: A mooring system for a marine vessel utilizing an extension system. The mooring system comprises at least one mooring line having a first line section and a second line section. An extension device is associated with the at least one mooring line. The extension device has a first component and a second component. The first and second component each has a shear pin hole. A shear pin is positioned within the shear pin holes thereby connecting the first component and the second component. The mooring system also comprises an extension line having a first end connected to the first component and a second end connected to the second component.

  • Publication number: 20160010303
Abstract: The present disclosure addresses increasing the axial holding capacity of a pile by adding a capacity enhancer in the form of an external ring, cylindrical or otherwise, to the pile, often at the bottom of the pile. Adding the capacity enhancer to the pile increases the axial holding capacity by increasing the surface area of the pile and maximizing the use of the higher soil strength by engaging the higher strength of the deepest soil layer. The axial holding capacity is increased without increasing the overall diameter of the pile or its length, and with a very nominal increase in total weight.
