  • Patent number: 11472475
Abstract: A control apparatus and method of a motor-driven power steering system are provided. The apparatus and method are capable of suppressing catch-up that occurs at a high steering speed even without using an expensive motor, thereby contributing to improving commercial value and reducing the manufacturing cost of a vehicle. The method includes determining a target steering speed using driver-steering input information and vehicle state information and determining the target steering speed corresponds to a condition for avoiding catch-up using the determined target steering speed. A current compensation value is then determined for reducing catch-up using the target steering speed in response to determining that is the target steering speed corresponds a condition for avoiding catch-up and motor current is compensated with the current compensation value.

  • Patent number: 11364947
Abstract: A rack supporting device for vehicle steering systems includes: a steering housing having a steering gear installed therein; a rack bar longitudinally inserted into the steering housing to engage with the steering gear; a tapered passage defined in an inner circumference of the steering housing, wherein the tapered passage is eccentric with an axial center of the steering housing; a rack bushing inserted between an inner circumference of the tapered passage and an outer circumference of the rack bar so that the rack bushing moves along the tapered passage and pushes the rack bar to the steering gear; and an elastic member mounted to one side of the tapered passage to provide an elastic pressing force for pushing the rack bar to the rack bushing.

  • Patent number: 11247718
Abstract: An electric steering column device includes a column housing, and a first shaft, a connection shaft and a second shaft provided in the column housing. The connection shaft is movable in an axial direction of the first shaft and the second shaft and is connected to the first shaft and the second shaft so as to rotate together with the first shaft and the second shaft. The first and second shaft are connected to the connection shaft so that the first shaft always rotates at the same rotation speed and that a rotation speed of the second shaft is varied depending on whether or not the connection shaft moves in the axial direction. The device is capable of securing an optimized steering performance by adjusting steering responsibility of a steering wheel depending on a driving state of the vehicle.

  • Patent number: 7445080
Abstract: A variable steering rack system in one embodiment includes a pair of stop rings and a stopper moveable between the rings. The stopper may be rotatable in one embodiment during translational movement between the rings by a motor. Preferably, the stopper may stop due to a frictional engagement between the stopper and the stop rings. Noise may be reduced, and because the motor may rotate at a high speed, motor performance may not be degraded under low temperature circumstances.
