  • Patent number: 9306992
Abstract: Systems and methods of communicating voice communication signals and video content over a WiFi ad hoc network and within the framework of Miracast/Wi-Fi Direct standards may include a first wireless-enabled mobile device configured to establish a Miracast session with a second wireless-enabled mobile device, enter a Miracast mirroring mode in which the first wireless-enabled mobile device establishes itself as a source device so that content output to the speaker and electronic display of the first wireless-enabled mobile device is also displayed on the speaker and electronic display of the second wireless-enabled mobile device, detect user input indicating that the push-to-send over Miracast features should be activated, activate a microphone and/or camera to capture voice communications, images, and/or video content, and transmit the captured voice communications, images, and/or video content to the second wireless-enabled mobile device.

    Assignee: QUALCOMM Incorporated
Inventors: Sanigepalli V. Praveenkumar, Vijay N. Subramaniam
  • Patent number: 9277442
Abstract: An apparatus and method of determining an allocation of data across multiple data communications networks. A respective characteristic of the first data communications network and the second data communication network are determined based on receiving a respective first and second portion of a data set sent through respective channels to a receiver. Based on determining these respective characteristics and based upon the respective characteristics, an allocation of data between the first data communications network and the second communications network is determined such that the allocation satisfies at least one data transfer performance requirement associated with the data set.
    Type: Grant

Date of Patent: March 1, 2016
    Assignee: BlackBerry Limited
Inventors: Sanigepalli V. Praveenkumar, Ritwik Dubey, Manish Bansal

  • Patent number: 7006491
Abstract: A method (500), communication system (10) and portable communication unit (31, 32, 33) capable of integrating a plurality of communication services can include a transceiver and a processor (34) coupled to the transceiver. The processor coupled to the transceiver can be programmed to receive (508) at least one request among a dispatch call request, an interconnect call request, and a packet data session request while the portable communication unit is in an active session with at least one among an existing dispatch call, an existing interconnect call, and an existing packet data session, provide notification (512) of the at least one request while in the active session, and enable a selection (514) among a rejection of the at least one request, an acceptance of the at least one request, and a message response to the at least one request.
