  • Publication number: 20210218794
Abstract: Presented herein are techniques to provide an endpoint in a multi-site Software-defined network (SDN) fabric with an Internet access route that is optimal for the specific site in which the endpoint is located. In particular, a control plane node in a first site of a multi-site SDN fabric registers a border node in the first site as a Default Egress Tunnel Router (ETR) for Internet access or unknown endpoint identifier (EID) of the first site. The first site includes at least one endpoint. The control plane node receives a request for Internet access for the at least one endpoint and provides a dynamically-selected Internet access route via a same or different virtual instance (e.g., Virtual Routing and Forwarding (VRF) function(s), Virtual Private Network(s) (VPNs), Virtual Networks (VNs), etc.) for Internet traffic sent by the at least one endpoint.

  • Patent number: 11038889
Abstract: Present technology is directed to a system and method for implementing an offline scheme to automatically and efficiently transform a set of conventional IP-based Access Control Entries in a supplied configuration into compressed form that can then be represented as Object-Group based Access Control Entries. The compression is performed on contiguous blocks of the supplied Access Control List having a common prescribed filtering access. The compression is performed by iteratively selecting a data field with mismatching data values across the ACEs and merging the data values into a corresponding data field of the output ACE. The common values of other data fields are then imported to the corresponding data fields of the output ACE. The process is repeated in an iterative manner by assigning a different data field as the selected data field for each iteration round.

  • Publication number: 20210075767
Abstract: Systems, methods, and computer-readable media for preserving source host context when firewall policies are applied to traffic in an enterprise network fabric. A data packet to a destination host from a source host can be received at a first border node instance in an enterprise network fabric as part of network traffic. The data packet can include a context associated with the source host. Further, the data packet can be sent to a firewall of the enterprise network fabric and can be received at a second border node instance after the firewall applies a firewall policy to the data packet. The data packet can then be selectively encapsulated with the context associated with the source host at the second border node instance for applying one or more policies to control transmission of the network traffic through the enterprise network fabric.

  • Publication number: 20210044565
Abstract: Systems, methods, and computer-readable media for implementing an extranet policy include receiving a request from a source to perform a lookup for a destination address. A lookup for the destination address is performed in a consolidated routing table, the consolidated routing table including a consolidated mapping of address prefixes associated with two or more virtual networks. If the lookup results in a match for the destination address with a matching address prefix, a matching virtual network associated with the matching address prefix is determined. An access policy for the request corresponding to the matching virtual network is obtained, and based on the access policy the request is allowed to access the destination address in the matching virtual network or disallowed. The consolidated routing table can be implemented in a mapping server using a Locator/ID Separation Protocol (LISP).

  • Patent number: 10826775
Abstract: Systems, methods, and computer-readable media for providing cross-domain policy enforcement. In some examples, transit VRFs for a destination network domain and a source network domain are created. Route advertisements for nodes coupled to source VRFs in the source network domain are created that include identifications of the source VRFs. The route advertisements can be transmitted from a source transit VRF in the source network domain to a destination transit VRF in the destination network domain. The route advertisements can then be filtered at the destination transit VRF based on a cross-domain policy using the identifications of the source VRFs to export routes to destination VRFs in the destination network domain according to the cross-domain policy.
