  • Patent number: 8449821
Abstract: A system includes a controller and an apparatus that includes a housing having a volume and an inlet. The inlet can receive a fluid that includes a gas and a liquid. The apparatus also includes a baffle that partitions the volume into a first portion and a second portion. The baffle extends from a base of the housing. The first portion can receive the liquid and separate the liquid into a first part and a second part. The second portion can receive the second part of the liquid from the first portion. The controller regulates an amount of the second part of the liquid in the second portion such that a level of the second part of the liquid is higher than a height that the baffle extends from the base of the housing, thus enabling the use of the extra surge capacity in the vessel.

  • Publication number: 20120215365
Abstract: A method includes obtaining a model associated with production of natural gas from a well, where the well has a choke valve that controls flow of material including natural gas from the well. The method also includes identifying, using the model, a solution that increases an amount of natural gas obtained from the well over a specified time horizon. In addition, the method includes adjusting operation of the choke valve based on the identified solution. The model could be generated using geological data associated with the well and/or historical data associated with natural gas production from the well. A natural gas reservoir can be modeled as a continuous stirred bed with a rock or shale void fraction using mass or volumetric unit balances. Gas content versus pressure for the well can be plotted, and Langmuir adsorption parameters for the well can be identified using the plotted gas content versus pressure.

  • Patent number: 8010134
Abstract: Systems and methods are provided for mobile device advertising. The system includes a mobile device, a content provider, and an advertisement provider. A plurality of location fix technologies is executed to determine a plurality of location fixes for the mobile device, and the plurality of location fixes is stored in the mobile device. A location request is received for the mobile device, the plurality of stored location fixes is retrieved from the mobile device, and the plurality of stored location fixes is sent to the content provider. The content provider receives the plurality of location fixes for the mobile device from the mobile device, forwards the plurality of location fixes to the advertisement provider, and transmits content to the mobile device. The advertisement provider selects an advertisement based on location fixes, and transmits the advertisement to the mobile device.

  • Patent number: 7652992
Abstract: RPR traffic management concepts are extended to individual client flows while adhering to the station level traffic management functions by using a two tiered shaper approach. The first tier manages the client level SLAs and feeds the second tier which provides the aggregate station level traffic management functions. This approach allows sharing of a single RPR station without the compromises and side affects associated with the other techniques. Apparatus for Resilient Packet Ring traffic management comprises a stage queue selection block operable to hold client and control traffic for transmission, a queue level traffic shaper operable to control an add rate of client data add traffic and to provide queue specific send indications to the stage queue selection block, and a ringlet level traffic shaper operable to control traffic flow for a Resilient Packet Ring ringlet and to provide aggregate send indications to the stage queue selection block.

  • Patent number: 7496349
Abstract: A system for activating a wireless device comprising a wireless device having an input operable for a user of the wireless device to initiate activation of the wireless device. The system includes a telecommunication network operable to communicate with the wireless device. The system includes an authentication component of the telecommunication network operable to identify the wireless device as not authenticated on the telecommunication networks the telecommunication network allowing access by the wireless device for activation. The system includes an activation system operable based on the activation information received to perform input to activate the wireless device such that the only telecommunication network user input required for activation of the wireless device will be the user of the wireless device.

  • Patent number: 7433986
Abstract: The capability to handle the 100 ?s RPR interrupt and similar interrupts is provided by servicing selected interrupts outside of the operating system. This drastically reduces the latency and overhead associated with servicing the interrupt. A method of handling an interrupt in a computer system comprises receiving the interrupt at the computer system, determining whether the interrupt is a selected interrupt, and performing interrupt processing not involving an operating system of the computer system, if the interrupt is a selected interrupt.

  • Publication number: 20030144953
Abstract: A total cost of ownership model is input by a series of graphical user interface pages. The model may include identification of specific tasks, including sub-activities and activities. Data sets are generated by progressively inputting costs, time, labor rates, and other key information for the various activities and sub-activities. Total cost of ownership calculations are made and the data may be rapidly and interactively displayed in graphical formats, tabulated formats, flow charts, and so forth. The tool permits the evaluation of both existing and alternative or solution scenarios for equipment ownership and servicing.
