Abstract: Disclosed is a method and system for customizing access to a resource. The access to the resource is requested by users in a hierarchy. A first user of the users in the hierarchy is at a higher level in the hierarchy than a second user of the users in the hierarchy. The first user defines a role for the second user. The role includes a set of permissible operations for utilizing the resource by the second user. A role associated with the first user enables the first user to define the role for the second user. The first user customizes a user interface for the second user based on the role defined for the second user. The user interface for the second user provides the second user customized access to the resource.
