The content of the web page may be automatically determined and then compared to content of the candidate advertisement to determine which candidate advertisement to select. The system can be used to implement a structured advertising system for the World Wide Web. Web pages are searched and indexed, producing indexed content data. This indexed content data may be ranked according to relevancy. The ranked content data are compared to content data of advertisements and an advertisement is selected. Abstract: A method and device are provided for creating an information report for a computer system. An information report is used to signal a problem with a computer system and to provide information about the problem. The information report contains only relevant information, thereby decreasing the bandwidth required to send the information report, and the time required for a technician to review the information report. Information about the problem with the computer system is input by a user of the computer system. This information, together with information stored in a diagnostic tree, is used to limit the scope of an automatic information retrieval. An information report is produced from the results of the automatic information retrieval.

Abstract: A method and apparatus are provided for the simultaneous display of different “viewing areas” on a computer video display monitor so that a user sees them as displayed at different resolutions. When a user selects a resolution for a viewing area different from the background resolution of the rest of the video display monitor, the background resolution of the display monitor is set as the highest resolution at which data is to be displayed. High-level graphics commands are intercepted by a multi-resolution system mimicking a display driver. High-level graphics commands are interpolated using a resolution conversion ratio. Modified high-level graphics commands are sent to the true display driver and an image is displayed at an apparent resolution lower than the background resolution. This enables a user to optimize the display of computer data depending on the program outputting that data and the user's requirements.

Abstract: A method for generating knowledge base entries by using a programmed computer with access to said knowledge base is disclosed. In one embodiment, after information is collected from content providers, the present invention attempts to generate questions which relate to the collected information. Such questions are presented to a non-expert user in view of received information. If the information does not answer the generated questions, the user modifies the questions so that the information becomes the solutions to them. Then these questions and solutions pairs are entered into the knowledge base.
