  • Patent number: 10169877
Abstract: The present disclosure discloses methods and systems (for example multi-function devices) for segmenting multiple documents from a single input image. The multi-functional device includes a controller unit having a boundary extraction module to process an input image having multiple documents. The processing is performed using a computer implemented sum of absolute difference (SAD) based edge detection technique, to identify potential edge pixels and the region of interest pixels of the plurality of document images. Based on the identified potential edge pixels, perimeter boundaries surrounding each of the plurality of document images are determined. The determined perimeter boundaries and ROI pixels (Image mask for each document) in the input image are then segmented to create separate pages or files for each of the documents present within the input image for the purpose of printing separate files.

  • Patent number: 10025539
Abstract: Methods and systems for rendering an image. In an example embodiment, a step or operation can be implemented to pre-render white objects in an image with a background image set to a single complementary color. Such a single complimentary color assists in obtaining the textual content only from the complex background. A connected component analysis can be performed with respect to said image to identify elements in said images that should be rendered as objects composed of text and graphics. Tags are then assigned for final rendering of the image after performing said component analysis with respect to said image. Modification of tag values with respect to said images avoids unwanted artifacts such as, for example, bleed through, background closing, ghost effects, etc.

  • Patent number: 9639788
Abstract: Methods, systems, and computer program products for improving the performance of a raster image processor. Smaller objects are identified among a group of larger objects with respect to a job processed via a raster image processor. The smaller objects are merged with one or more larger objects among the group of larger objects. The smaller objects that are merged with the larger object are treated as a single object without losing the perceptual quality of the job and while reducing memory requirements to thereby enhance productivity during processing of the job via the raster image processor. RIP performance improvement results by pre-flattening complicatedly designed backgrounds with multiple objects of significantly low relative occupancy.
