  • Publication number: 20230022128
Abstract: An ozone treatment device includes an ozone destruct module and an ozone generator mounted within a housing. The ozone destruct module and the ozone generator are mounted between corresponding air inlets and air outlets formed in the housing. The ozone treatment device also includes a controller mounted to the housing. The controller is configured to generate ozone with the ozone generator for a first time period and to automatically destruct ozone with the ozone destruct module for a second time period following the first time period. In certain implementations the treatment device includes an input device for receiving an operator input. In such cases the controller can determine the first and second time periods based on the operator input.

  • Publication number: 20220387646
Abstract: An ozone conveyor includes a conveyor belt extending through an elongated enclosure. The conveyor also includes an aqueous ozone section with an aqueous ozone applicator mounted next to the conveyor belt and a gaseous ozone section with a gaseous ozone applicator mounted next to the conveyor belt. One or more exhaust ports are configured to connect to an exhaust system for removing gaseous ozone from the enclosure. An ozone disinfection system includes a dual zone ozone generator and an exhaust system operably coupled with an ozone conveyor. The dual zone ozone generator includes an ozone generator that produces gaseous ozone and an ozone injector for producing aqueous ozone. A method for disinfecting with ozone includes applying aqueous and gaseous ozone to a product and maintaining a net negative air pressure to reduce the likelihood of ozonated air leaks.

  • Publication number: 20220009777
Abstract: An ozone generating cell includes a corona discharge chamber with a curved side wall. The cell includes a high-voltage electrode, a ground electrode, and a dielectric material positioned between the high-voltage electrode and the ground electrode. The cell includes a gas channel formed between the dielectric material and the ground electrode. The channel has a first end in fluid communication with a gas opening in the dielectric material, which is in fluid communication with a gas port. The channel has a second end in fluid communication with another gas port. The channel further includes multiple concentric segments between the first and second ends of the channel.

  • Publication number: 20210361806
Abstract: Disclosed is a method for disinfecting packaging. In certain aspects, the method comprises placing the packaging in a contacting chamber and directly contacting the packaging with gaseous ozone for a time interval, wherein the time interval is sufficient to substantially reduce pathogens on the packaging. In certain embodiments, the time interval is from about 3 seconds to about 30 seconds. In certain aspects, the gaseous ozone is comprised of from about 6% to about 12% ozone and the time interval is sufficient to substantially reduce pathogens on the packaging.

  • Publication number: 20210161161
Abstract: Disclosed is a method for disinfecting a meat product by placing the meat in a contacting chamber and directly contacting the meat with gaseous ozone for a time interval sufficient to substantially reduce pathogens on the meat. In certain aspects, the time interval is from about 3 seconds to about 30 seconds. In further aspects, the time interval is from about 5 seconds to about 15 seconds. In yet further aspects, the time interval is about 5 seconds. In certain implementations, the gaseous ozone is introduced into the chamber at about 10 liters per minute. In further implementations, the gaseous ozone is from about 6% to about 8% ozone.
