  • Patent number: 4974774
Abstract: A medical appliance driving apparatus includes positive and negative pressure sources and an isolator having an input chamber and an output chamber which are defined by a movable membrane. A first switching valve is connected to the positive pressure source and has its output side connected to the input chamber. A second switching valve is connected to the negative pressure source and has its input side connected to the input chamber. A solenoid valve is also connected to the input chamber. A microcomputer supplies the isolator with a positive or negative pressure by controlling the operation of the first or second switching valve, and after opening the first switching valve, closes it and controls the operation of the solenoid valve so as to adjust the pressure in the input chamber to a predetermined positive pressure value.

  • Patent number: 4832005
Abstract: A medical appliance driving apparatus has a switching valve connected to both positive and negative pressure sources to output positive and negative pressures while switching them from one to the other, and an isolator having an input chamber and an output chamber which are defined by a movable membrane, the input chamber being connected to the switching valve. A solenoid valve is connected to the output chamber of the isolator, and a microcomputer is provided for switching the switching valve to the positive pressure side or the negative pressure side and controlling the operation of the solenoid valve. When the switching valve is activated to the positive pressure source side and the solenoid valve is opened, a positive pressure which is supplied to the input chamber causes the movable membrane to move in a direction in which the medical appliance is expanded.

  • Patent number: 4583525
Abstract: Positive pressure and negative pressure are alternately applied to artificial hearts so as to drive the same. Each of driving systems includes a pressure sensor, and a solenoid valve connected between a pressure source and an accumulator is controlled in its opening and closing in order that the detected pressure is made coincident with a set value. A pair of solenoid valves connected respectively to an output port of the accumulator in a positive pressure system and an output port of the accumulator in a negative pressure system are opened and closed, thereby to supply positive pressure air and negative pressure air to the artificial hearts alternately. There is also included a backup driving system, and upon receiving instruction for system switching, lamps are energized in due sequence so as to inform the operator of valves to be operated manually.

  • Patent number: 4556997
Abstract: A self-propelled wheelchair type artificial heart driving apparatus for giving freedom of movement to those patients who require an auxiliary artificial heart. Various safety devices are provided to avoid danger due to erroneous running of the wheelchair at the time when the patients board on or alight from the wheelchair and after alighting therefrom. For the purpose of enlarging a sphere of movement of the patients and preventing possible dangers, a motor-operated tube taking-up mechanism is provided and the wheelchair is permitted to run only when the tubes are in the orderly housed condition. A pressure compensating solenoid valve is provided in parallel to a pressure adjusting solenoid valve and a tank is dispensed with so as to make reduction in size of the artificial heart driving apparatus.
