  • Patent number: 8761538
Abstract: In a deblocking operation, pixel values within a first block of pixels are compared, and pixel values in the first block are also compared to pixel values in a second block of pixels that is adjacent to the first block. Based on the results of the comparisons, a digital deblocking filter and a region of interest can be selected, where the region of interest identifies a number of pixels in the first block and a number of pixels in the second block to which the selected filter is to be applied.

  • Patent number: 8670705
Abstract: First radio signals are received by a first satellite, the received first radio signals including a desired satellite uplink signal transmitted from a first source using a frequency assigned to the first source and an interfering signal transmitted from a second source using the frequency assigned to the first source. The first radio signals are combined based on a first performance criterion to generate a first output signal. Second radio signals are received by a second satellite, the received second radio signals including a measure of the desired signal. The second radio signals are combined based on a second performance criterion to produce a second output signal. The first and second output signals are combined to generate an estimate of the desired satellite uplink signal.

  • Patent number: 8526941
Abstract: Communications between a terminal and a terrestrial base station are established. The terrestrial base station receives a request to monitor a satellite base station from the terminal. The terrestrial base station grants the request and receives monitoring information for the satellite base station corresponding to the request. Granting of the request may include suspending transmission from the terrestrial base station to the terminal for a period of time sufficient to allow the terminal to request the monitoring information from the satellite base station and receiving monitoring information may include receiving the requested monitoring information at the terrestrial base station via a communications path not including the terminal. Suspending transmission from the terrestrial base station to the terminal may be followed by resuming transmission to the terminal before receiving the monitoring information at the terrestrial base station.

  • Patent number: 8411751
Abstract: A method includes projecting motion vectors describing a transformation from a previous video frame to a future video frame onto a plane between the previous video frame and the future video frame, detecting potential artifacts at the plane based on an intersection of a cover region and an uncover region on the plane, and analyzing a dissimilarity between a trial video frame and both the previous video frame and the future video frame. The trial video frame is generated between the previous video frame and the future video frame based on a frame rate conversion ratio derived from a source frame rate and a desired frame rate. The method also includes estimating reliability of the projected motion vectors based on the potential artifact detection and the dissimilarity analysis.

  • Patent number: 8350900
Abstract: A method includes reducing a red rivalry through adjusting a color temperature on a first image, converting the first image from the RGB domain to a YCbCr domain, shifting a hue of a red color in the first image towards a magenta color to reduce a red color vibrancy, and adjusting a blue color in the first image such that a dark blue visible through a second lens corresponding to a second image is at least partially visible through a first lens corresponding to the first image. The method also includes reducing the red rivalry through adjusting a tone of the red color in the first image towards a brown color, converting the first image from the YCbCr domain back to the RGB domain, adjusting a color saturation in the first image, and combining the first image with the second image in a processor to generate an anaglyph image.

  • Patent number: 8151329
Abstract: An approach to managing stored-value data objects, such as electronic tickets, comprises secure systems and procedures for ticket issuing, storage, and redemption. With these systems and procedures in place, stored-value data objects may be securely transferred to remote systems, such as a user's personal electronic device, for subsequent secure redemption, thus allowing the user to gain access to the desired goods or service upon redeeming the data object. Techniques provide secure delivery of the requested data object to the requesting device, and provide secure redemption and disposal of the data object. Ticket issuing systems may be Internet-accessible systems, and users may purchase and redeem tickets using mobile terminals or other devices adapted for wireless communication. Standardized WPKI and Internet access procedures may be employed in ticket issuance and redemption.

  • Patent number: 8131293
Abstract: Communications of a mobile station with a satellite mobile communications system and a terrestrial mobile communications system are coordinated. The mobile station is registered with the terrestrial mobile communications system and, responsive to the registration of the mobile station with the terrestrial mobile communications system, the mobile station is concurrently registered with the satellite mobile communications system. The concurrent registration may include implicitly registering the mobile station with the satellite mobile communications system, e.g., by storing information identifying the mobile station may be stored in a location register of the satellite mobile communications system responsive to the registration of the mobile station with the terrestrial mobile communications system, and maintaining synchronization between the two registrations. Authentication tokens may be pre-generated for quick re-registration with a satellite mobile communications system.
