Abstract: A user experience can be enhanced by providing an electronic device, such as a principal network device, that allows for a customizable profile configuration associated with any one or more users, one or more electronic devices, or both. A user can configure the profile configuration so that the user has a consistent, familiar, and customized interface to one or more auxiliary network devices, the principal network device and/or any other electronic devices. The user can have a uniform experience no matter where the user and/or any electronic device is located as the principal network device, for example, can communicate with a network resource to obtain the profile configuration associated with the user.

Abstract: A client device for identifying unsupported capabilities. A client device detects unsupported capabilities and notifies a service provider or device manufacturer of the unsupported capabilities. The service provider notifies the client device of support for the unsupported capabilities including possible upgrades that may be provided to the client device.

Abstract: A system and method for managing resources of a processor is disclosed. In an illustrative embodiment, the method includes accepting a command to execute an application at least in part by the processor, executing the application using the processor, monitoring execution parameters characterizing the execution of the application by the processor, and storing the monitored execution parameters in a memory accessible to processor. In one example, the execution parameters including an identifier of the application and a time at which the application begins execution.

Abstract: A media device includes a memory for storing a file transfer application and a storage device for storing content. The device also includes at least one processor and an input-output (I/O) interface over which the file transfer application transfers content. The device also includes a protocol stack that is executable by the processor. The protocol stack includes a file transfer application layer, a transport protocol layer that does not include native support for security, and a security emulation layer located between the file transfer application layer and the transport protocol layer. The security emulation layer is executed in the transport protocol layer.
