  • Patent number: 9696821
Abstract: According to one embodiment, a data input system includes an active stylus and an apparatus. The active stylus switches a mode from a first mode in which the signal is output with a first transmission interval to a second mode in which the signal is output with a second transmission interval longer than the first transmission interval when a pressure in a handwriting input operation is not detected for more than a first period. The apparatus displays an object indicative of a position pointed to by the active stylus based on the signal. The apparatus maintains, when the active stylus is in the second mode, a display state of the object displayed on the basis of the signal output at a first timing until the signal is output at a second timing following the first timing.

  • Publication number: 20160041635
Abstract: According to one embodiment, an active stylus pen includes a first signal generator, a second signal generator and a transmitter. The first signal generator generates a first signal capable of notifying an electronic device capable of accepting an operation executed by the active stylus pen that the pen tip is in contact with the electronic device when an operation of bringing the pen tip into contact with the electronic device is executed. The second signal generator generates a second signal capable of notifying the electronic device that the eraser is in contact with the electronic device when an operation of bringing the eraser into contact with the electronic device is executed.

  • Publication number: 20150370352
Abstract: According to one embodiment, an active stylus pen includes a power supply circuit, an operation detector, a counter and a grip detector. The power supply circuit supplies power from a battery to components in the active stylus pen. The operation detector detects an operation with the active stylus pen being performed for an electronic device capable of receiving the operation. The counter counts an elapsed time after detecting the operation being performed. The grip detector detects the active stylus pen being gripped. The power supply circuit reduces power supply to the components when the elapsed time exceeds a value defined in advance and the active stylus pen being gripped is not detected.

  • Publication number: 20150160851
Abstract: According to one embodiment, an electronic device is provided with a first detection module, a second detection module and a rendering module. The first detection module detects the region of a detection surface that contacts an indicator. The second module detects, using a method different from a method of the first detection module, a pressure corresponding to a load that occurs when the indicator contacts the detection surface. The rendering module renders the shape of the region, detected by the first detection module, on the screen of a display with a concentration corresponding to the pressure detected by the second detection module.
