  • Publication number: 20160262107
Abstract: The present invention relates to a user equipment and a radio base station, and to related methods of enabling the radio base station to affect an energy saving in the system during a connection between the user equipment and the radio base station according to a priority level of the energy saving. The method comprises the step of detecting a trigger received via a user interface of the user equipment, where the trigger is associated with the priority level of the energy saving in the system. It also comprises transmitting an indicator of the priority level to the radio base station, allowing the radio base station to affect the energy saving in the system during the connection according to the priority level, by configuring different user or system related parameters.

  • Patent number: 9432902
Abstract: A method for cell selection comprises obtaining of user equipment specific information for a user equipment that is present in a first cell of a first base station. The user equipment specific information comprises information of a prevailing radio situation and information of a present decoding performance. A present capability of the user equipment for handling increased interference and a measure of a cell selection offset required to cover the user equipment by a second cell is estimated from the user equipment specific information. It is decided on modifying a cell selection offset for handover between the first cell and the second cell, in dependence on the estimated present capability of the user equipment for handling increased interference and the cell selection offset required to cover the user equipment by the second cell.

  • Patent number: 9380590
Abstract: An interference problem for UE retransmissions at the end of a Sequence Frame Number pattern, in a system wherein a macro base station (12) employs Almost Blank Subframes (ABS) to avoid interference with a micro base station (16), is avoided by first recognizing that an ABS pattern will reset at the end of a SFN period. In some embodiments, in response to this recognition, the micro base station (16) may command (108) a UE to alter a transmission to the micro base station (12), to improve the probability of accurate reception—such as by increasing its transmit power during the relevant time slots, or utilizing a more robust data correction encoding scheme. In other embodiments, in response to recognizing the change in the ABS pattern, the macro base station (12) may schedule (208) other UE to a PRB where they cause lower interference, or may avoid scheduling macro cell UEs in the same time slot.

  • Patent number: 9144059
Abstract: A method and arrangement for enabling communication of data between a UE and a first base station in a cellular communication network further comprising the second base station, and the second base station is connected to the first base station via a communication interface. A scheduling request is received from the first base station. The scheduling request is based on a suggested scheduling which is determined by the first base station, and the suggested scheduling concerns the communication of data. Scheduling information is determined based on the scheduling request, and the scheduling information is transmitted to the UE. By determining a suggested scheduling in a micro base station, but transmitting scheduling information from an overlaying macro base station, local awareness of communication conditions may be applied, and interferences from neighboring micro base stations may be decreased.

  • Patent number: 8965430
Abstract: According to this disclosure, a base station or other controlling node within a wireless communication network determines which channel state information reporting mode should be used by individual users among a plurality of active users being supported by the network. In particular, the determination is made as to whether or not an individual user should use frequency-selective reporting and, if so, whether the user should report a frequency-selective channel quality indicator or a frequency-selective precoder matrix indicator.

  • Patent number: 8879492
Abstract: A method in a first base station (105) for handling a downlink transmission is provided. The first base station (105) serves a first user equipment (120). The first base station (105) defines a subframe in which the first base station (105) is to avoid interfering a downlink radio channel between a second base station (115) and a second user equipment (125). The second user equipment (125) is located in an extended range of the second base station (120). The first base station (105) performs, in the defined subframe, a downlink transmission to the first user equipment (120). The first base station (105) receives, from the second base station (115), an indication of an interference caused by the performed downlink transmission on the downlink radio channel. The first base station (105) adjusts a further downlink transmission to be performed by the first base station (105) based on the indication.

  • Patent number: 8854999
Abstract: Method and arrangement in a base station for scheduling radio resources to a user equipment. The method and arrangement comprises receiving a scheduling request from the user equipment, and also a time offset value which value is associated with the moment of time when a frame of data was generated in the user equipment buffer. Also, the moment of time when the frame of data was generated in the user equipment buffer is determined, based on the received time offset value. Thereby the buffer state of the user equipment buffer is predicted by using the determined moment of time when the frame of data was generated in the user equipment buffer. Further, radio resources are granted to the user equipment, based on the predicted buffer state of the user equipment buffer. In addition, a method and arrangement in a user equipment for assisting the base station in scheduling radio resources are described.

  • Publication number: 20140187243
Abstract: A base station (BS) and method for controlling handover in a wireless communication system. The BS serves a first cell in a first cell layer overlapping with a second cell layer, and the first cell has a different distribution of configured amounts of uplink and downlink resources than a second cell in the second cell layer. The BS monitors amounts of uplink and downlink resources utilized by a user equipment (UE) in the first cell and adjusts at least one parameter controlling handover of the UE to the second cell based on the resources utilized by the UE, and on information regarding configured amounts of uplink and downlink resources in the first and second cells. This increases the likelihood that the UE will be served by one of the first and second cells in which the configured amounts of resources better matches the amounts of resources utilized by the UE.
