Publication number: 20210369505Abstract: An absorbent article includes bond seams that are positioned forwardly towards the article central longitudinal direction from the lateral-most side edges of the article, and which are aligned with the highest point of high-rise leg openings on the article. The absorbent article is conformable on both front and back panels, with the front panel being narrower in dimension than the back panel. The bond seams and leg openings can be seen on the front surface of the relaxed and flattened absorbent article. Such absorbent article may be manufactured along the article transverse direction by use of differential tension during manufacture, or differential retractive properties of elastic base materials.Type: ApplicationFiled: August 11, 2021Publication date: December 2, 2021Inventors: KueYoung You, Sarah A. O'Brien, MinJae Lee, Seul Lee, Jiyoung Haley Jung, DaeGun Kim, Catherine M. Hancock-Cooke

Publication number: 20170252230Abstract: A method of manufacturing an absorbent article includes feeding a first web of material in a machine direction, feeding a second web of material in the machine direction, the second web being spaced from the first web by a gap, attaching an absorbent assembly to the first web and the second web such that the absorbent assembly spans the gap between the first and second webs, forming a partial cut line through the second web, folding the first web into face-to-face relationship with the second web after forming the partial cut line, and cutting the first and second webs after folding the first web into face-to-face relationship with the second web to separate the absorbent article from the first and second webs. The partial cut line defines at least one finger tab on the absorbent article.Type: ApplicationFiled: November 26, 2014Publication date: September 7, 2017Inventors: Justin M. Mueller, Blake A. Hondl, William J. Meyer, Brian K. Rhodes, Sarah A. O'Brien

Patent number: 9237975Abstract: A feminine care absorbent article having fluid barrier and decolorizing structures is described. Such structures can prevent the spread of menses fluid towards the edges of the article and can also decolorize stains so that the stains are less noticeable. The article includes a liquid permeable topsheet having a central layer positioned adjacent opposing side layers. The side layers can include a separating region that at least partially separates a decolorizing agent carrier material treated with a decolorizing agent from an absorbent core. At least one of the side layers can also include at least one fluid barrier region that can prevent or slow the spread of fluids from the center of the article to the edges. The combination of the separating and fluid barrier regions can allow the decolorizing agent to sufficiently decolorize a fluid insult that may have spread to the lateral edges of the article.Type: GrantFiled: September 27, 2013Date of Patent: January 19, 2016Assignee: Kimberly-Clark Worldwide, Inc.Inventors: Sarah O'Brien, SangWook Lee, SiOn Choi, Marcela Rendon, Jin Chen
