Publication number: 20250120921Abstract: Provided are localized therapeutic delivery articles, comprising: a first fibrous layer comprising a first plurality of nanofibers; and a second fibrous layer comprising a second plurality of nanofibers, the first fibrous layer and the second fibrous layer being sealed to one another so as to define at least one sealed compartment therebetween, the article optionally comprising a first population of mechanically-responsive delivery particles configured to rupture upon exposure to a first rupture force, the first population of mechanically responsive delivery particles being disposed within at least one sealed compartment. The nanofibers can be aligned, which alignment allows the layers to emulate the structure of various body tissues, thereby affording control over cell growth on the articles. Also provided are methods of using and fabricating the disclosed articles.Type: ApplicationFiled: February 3, 2023Publication date: April 17, 2025Inventors: Robert Leon MAUCK, Harvey E. SMITH, Ana Paula PEREDO NERY, Sarah Elizabeth GULLBRAND, Daeyeon LEE, George R. DODGE

Patent number: 9266489Abstract: An energy absorption (EA) pad mountable on a vehicle door interior trim panel provides controlled collapse under side impact collision forces to minimize contact between the door and a vehicle passenger. The EA pad is in the form of a hollow body having an endwall, a sidewall, and an open end. A flange extends laterally from the open end. One or more slots and one or more ribs can be formed in the sidewall or the endwall of varying height, numbers, spacing, thickness, and shapes to provide the controlled collapse of the EA pad. A restraining rib structure is formed on the door trim panel adjacent to a least one side of the EA pad. In another aspect, a door trim panel includes the EA pad.Type: GrantFiled: October 28, 2013Date of Patent: February 23, 2016Assignee: Toyota Motor Engineering & Manufacturing North America, Inc.Inventors: Sarah E. Smith, Jay Zocher, Phouvadol P. Khouphongsy

Patent number: 8958784Abstract: Embodiments of the present invention provide a method, system and computer program product for telephone call co-processing in a mobile telephony environment. In an embodiment of the invention, a method of telephone call co-processing in a mobile telephony environment is provided. The method includes monitoring a resource state of a selected mobile telephone, such as cellular network signal strength or battery charge. The method additionally includes detecting weakness of the resource state sufficient to inhibit the maintenance of a telephone call in the selected mobile telephone. Finally, the method includes, in response to detecting weakness of the resource state, identifying a different mobile telephone proximate to the selected mobile telephone and utilizing the different mobile telephone to process a telephone call.Type: GrantFiled: May 2, 2012Date of Patent: February 17, 2015Assignee: International Business Machines CorporationInventors: Jordan Chin, Eric R. Kern, Luke D. Remis, Sarah E. Smith, Timothy M. Wiwel
