  • Patent number: 10422068
Abstract: A laundry treating appliance includes a wash basket defining a treating chamber, having a clothes mover in the treating chamber to agitate the clothes during a cycle of operation for cleaning. A method of operating the laundry treating appliance can include supplying a wash liquid to the treating chamber and rotating the clothes mover within the treating chamber with an electric motor operating at a first duty cycle to define a high duty cycle wash phase and at a second duty cycle to define a low duty cycle wash phase after the first duty cycle.

    Assignee: Whirlpool Corporation
Inventors: Sarah Ihne, Karl David McAllister
  • Patent number: 10351985
Abstract: A cycle of operation for a laundry treating appliance having a rotatable treating chamber for receiving a laundry load including a washing phase having an application of a treating chemistry to the laundry load to separate soils from the laundry load, an extracting phase having a centrifugal extraction of at least some of the treating chemistry from the laundry load, and a rinsing phase having a spraying of an amount of rinse water onto the laundry load to evenly wet the laundry load to form a wetted laundry load and an applying of a bleach solution to the wetted laundry load.

  • Patent number: 8438881
Abstract: A laundry treating appliance and method for dispensing treating chemistry, where the laundry treating appliance includes a treating chamber, a single use dispenser and a bulk dispenser. Water may be supplied to the single use dispenser through a first water flow path, which directs a dose of treating chemistry dispensed from the single use dispenser into the treating chamber. Water may be supplied to the bulk dispenser through a second water flow path, which is configured to spray a dose of treating chemistry dispensed from the bulk dispenser into the treating chamber. The laundry treating appliance may determine the presence of treating chemistry within at least one of the single use dispenser and the bulk dispenser, and, based on this determination, supply water to the flow path associated with the dispenser which contains treating chemistry.

  • Patent number: 8321983
Abstract: A method for controlling a laundry treating appliance having a treating chamber for treating laundry may provide a wash liquid including an enzyme into the treating chamber to effect an enzymatic reaction having at least one constituent product, monitor the concentration of the at least one constituent product, and alter the control of the laundry treating appliance in response to the concentration reaching a plateau.

  • Publication number: 20080256722
Abstract: A method of rinsing fabric in a washer having a wash chamber rotatable about a horizontal axis comprises the step of adding water to the wash chamber and spraying the rinse water by recirculating it onto the fabric while spinning the wash chamber at a speed to effect a centrifugal force on the fabric such that the fabric will not tumble within the wash chamber as it spins. The method further comprises at least a last rinsing step in which the rotating speed of the wash chamber is such that the fabric tumbles within the wash chamber and in that the rinsing water is not recirculated and sprayed onto the fabric.
